RR10 Race Result

The WADAC men's team finally climbed out of the shadow of the women's team winning the latest race at Janesmoor Pond with a fine run from Matt West winning the individual race and leading the team of Chris Powner (5th), Paul Stoodley (12th), Ian Berry (18th) and Ben Stannard (20th) home to win. The Ladies Team again dominated the race with 8 out of the first 11 home. Louise Damen won the race  with Olivia Burn (2nd) and Barbara Hosack (3rd) making up the A team, Kath Bailey (4th), Rebecca Knapton (6th) and Janet Littlewood (7th) made up the B team giving another 1-2 in the Ladies team event.

Test Way Relay – Call for names – Sat 11 Sept Ladies/mixed Start 10:30 – Men’s 11:30
The Test Way Relay is a 9 stage Relay from Ink Pen to Eling Quay. Winchester Ladies hold the Ladies Record of 05:22:00 (2007) and came 1st last year. Winchester Men were 2nd last year. Winchester Mixed hold the mixed Record of 05:06:49 (2006) and came 3rd  last year

Runners of all abilities contribute to the teams so, if you have not done this event before please put yourself forward, it’ is a great team event! (I would encourage you all to come down to the end in the afternoon and enjoy the atmosphere and a drink)

The route follows the Test Way Path and is marked by the foot path signs only, so you will need to run your leg before the race so you don’t get lost. There are only marshals where needed for safety, not to show you the way. If anyone wants help route finding, just let me know, there are always people willing to run the route with you if needed during the weeks before the race.

I am happy to do the organisation but I need 2-3 people to put them-selves forward to head up the Men’s, Ladies and/or Mixed teams so that there is one person that the team members contact either on the day or the week before if there are any last minute hitches, these people will also help to decide who goes in which team if we have excess people (if you don’t think you’re going to run but are happy to take on this role please still put your name forward) .

At the moment we should be allowed to enter 2 teams but we hope to enter a 3rd if the organisers let us and we have enough people.

Please email me with your: Full Name, the leg(s) that you have done in the past or would like to do, a contact mobile number and your email address (+ just in case we have too many people a recent 10k or similar distance time) by Fri 13th August, after this date please still send your name in but you are likely to be a reserve if we already have enough people (even if you are fast!) so please get your details in ASAP .

Happy Running, Janet Littlewood

Track & Field
Basingstoke Open Meeting Wednesday 21st July. Click here for further details.

RR10 Next Race
The next race is to be held at Fleming Park, 7th July, with a 7.30pm start. We need a strong turn out from the Ladies again to continue the excellent run of results and hopefully take a step closer to the title. If you have never tried a RR10 yet then come along - it's a nice 4.5mile course around the old golf course - just turn up in your Club Vest, no pre-registration or entry fee required.

RR10 Race Result
Yet another outstanding display from the WADAC Ladies winning the latest race at the Manor Farm Country Park. Barbara Hosack came in 1st with Michaela McCallum (4th) and Janet Littlewood (6th) making up the winning team. Special mention for Kaye Mansbridge (9th) whose performance would have been good enough to get into any of the other competing A teams showing the good depth in the team.

The men's team finished a solid 7th with a team of Paul Stoodley (12th), Alan Doney (16th), Nathan Risby (27th), Andrew Robinson (46th) and Will Harding (50th).

Save The Date - Test Way Relay - Saturday 11th September
A nine stage relay from Inkpen Beacon to Eling Quay. In past years we have had three teams: Mens, Ladies and Mixed, so please put the date in your diary (more information to follow soon).

RR10 Next Race
The next race is to held at Manor Farm Country Park, 23rd June, with a 7.30pm start. We need a strong turn out from the Ladies again to continue the excellent run of results and hopefully take a step closer to the title. Don't forget your towel for the post race dip in the sea. Everybody is welcome and it will be more fun than watching the football!

RR10 Race Result
Yet another outstanding result for the WADAC Ladies winning the latest race at Blackfield thanks to excellent performances from Barbara Hosack (2nd), Janet Littlewood (6th) and Emma Patel (10th). Hopefully we can keep up this level of performance and secure the RR10 series win. The Men produced another good performance finishing 7th with an excellent run from Mike Davies (7th) followed by Ian Berry (22nd), Alan Doney (27th), David Vosser (41st) and Melvyn Vayle (43rd).

Southern Women’s Track & Field League
Never have so few travelled so far in such heat - this was not the day to have black club strip!! See Match 2 Report from Braunton thanks to Moyna Lee and photos thanks to Sue and Dave True.

RR10 – Blackfield – WADAC ladies we need you!
We are level 1st with Southampton AC. Unlike the individual results the team competition is based on all runs (9/10) so if we do badly one week it does not get dropped.
With the Welsh Castles this coming weekend many regulars may be considering not attending (especially as it is a long way to travel and last year it all went a bit wrong ;-).
Thanks to Louise Damen’s 1st place and Fennella Langridge’s 7th  along with Janet Littlewood in 8th we managed another win this last Wednesday with Southampton 2nd with equal points.

Janet has decided to run the RR10 rather than do the Portsmouth 5K to increase our chances and we could do with a few more to support our chances of winning this league.

PS: The RR10s are great fun J so if you’ve never run one come and have a go.
Thanks, Dave

RR10
Another excellent result for the Winchester Ladies winning the latest race held at Ashurst with a strong performance from Louise Damen winning the individual race as well. The team was as follows Louise Damen (1st), Fennella Langridge (7th) and Janet Littlewood (8th). Winchester and Southampton were tied on 16pts but we won due to Janet finishing 1 place in front of the 3rd member of the Southampton team. The men also had another consistent performance finishing 5th with a team of Mike Davies (10th), Ben Stannard (25th), Alan Doney (30th), Nathan Risby (42nd) and Ian Berry (48th).

There is a quick turnaround with Race 5 being held next week (9th June) at the Blackfield Recreation Ground and full details can be found on the RR10 website (www.rr10.org.uk). Hopefully this year everyone will run the same course!

RR10 Race Result
Well done to the Winchester Ladies for coming an excellent 2nd with a team of Michaela MaCallum (3rd), Karen Hazlitt (5th) and Fenella Langridge (8th). Unfortunately Southampton AC were just too strong this time - hopefully next time the tables will be reversed. The Men produced another strong performance finishing 4th with a team of Mike Davies (13th), Matt Revier (19th), Paul Stoodley (20th), David Vosser (36th) and Will Clarkson (37th). Again the new combined Southampton AC are proving very strong.

Road Running / Endurance - Three Forts Challenge Marathon
Having decided that three weeks without running a marathon was too long, Steve Goodwin travelled to Worthing to take part in the Three Forts Challenge Marathon. This mainly off-road trail race, known as "The Tough One", is actually just over 27 miles long with climbs of 3450 feet taking in the Cissbury Ring, Devils Dyke & Chanctonbury Ring. In ideal weather conditions, this race would have offered spectacular views of the South Downs and beyond.....however with torrential rain, low cloud and the absence of that red circular thingee in the sky, conditions were less than perfect, although Steve was pleased to cross the finish line in 19th position overall out of 158 finishers & 3rd Male Vet 50  in a time of 4:02:41, having run with the leading lady Lucy, for several miles towards the finish. Two aspects of this race involved new experiences for Steve. The first was finishing with not just one or two "white fingers" due the cold & wet but both hands going totally white. The second was the first public showing (albeit in the men's showers), of his new tattoo!

Congratulations to the Winchester Ladies winning the first race of the season - a great team result from Sue True (2nd), Janet Littlewood (3rd) and Mhairi Crawford (5th - on her first RR10 race). Also special mentions for other "Newbies", Sandra Bowers (10th), Debora Iglesias-Rodrigues (46th) and an excellent first time performance from 15 year old Tamsin Moran (20th). Unfortunately the Men's result wasn't as good as the Women's finishing 8th with a team of Ian Berry (20th), Alan Doney (26th), Sean Davies (36th), Malcolm Green (41st) and Brian Minard (44th). Steven Lowy (128th) was running in his first RR10 race at Netley.
