Funding opportunities
WADAC is committed to the development of its coaches. This is seen as a fundamental to the continued success of the club and its members. To ensure that coaches are not financially disadvantaged in taking further development courses and in recognition of the substantial time and commitment that coaches make, the Committee has agreed to fund future coaching courses.
It is expected that each coach in receipt of funding will commit to a minimum number of coaching sessions. In the unlikely event that coaches do not fulfil the minimum coaching sessions WADAC reserve the right to request a repayment of all or part of the funding.
Coaches need to commit to the following hours based on the coaching course they are attending:
Leader: Assist with 20 sessions within a year
Coaching Assistant: Take with supervision 20 sessions within a year
Coach: Lead 50 sessions over 2 years.
Funding is also available to volunteer coaches wishing to undertake Coaching Assistant or Coach level qualifications through Coaching Hampshire and IOW and so coaches are invited to register at their website to apply for Coaching Scholarships.
CRB process
To gain a UKA coaching qualification you are required to complete an Enhanced CRB Check. This CRB has to be completed by UKA and so even if you have a CRB from another sport/organisation you will need to have another check done. This is free of charge and for further information on the process please click here. Once you have completed the form please contact welfare@wadac.org.uk to arrange a time to have your identification verified.
Local Coach Development Programme
The Local Coach Development Programme is available to any coaches who are level 2 and wish to develop themselves further. As part of this programme the local Club and Coach Support Officer organises a variety of different workshops through the year based on the needs of the coaches within the area. The programme includes event specific workshops, generic workshops such as physiology and psychology and also coach get together to share best practise and resources. If you are interested in applying for the LCDP please complete the application form on England Athletics website and send it to our local CCSO.
National Coach Development Programme
To take part in the National Coach Development Programme you must be an active Level 3 or Level 4 coach, keen to learn and committed to the future of athletics in England.
The programme aims to support coaches and offer regular contact with a National Coach Mentor with an individual development plan. In return, you will be asked to participate fully in the programme's activities and to pass on what you have learned by mentoring up to two other coaches in your local area. If you are interested in applying for the NCDP please complete the application form on England Athletics website and send it to the relevant National Coach Mentor for your event.
