Insurance

Our Membership Secretary has obtained this clarification of the insurance cover for athletes provided by UKA to affiliated clubs:

"The insurance cover for athletes is a Public Liability policy and provides cover should they be deemed to be liable for injury or damage caused to another person or property.  The personal accident insurance is only applicable to athletes when they are competing as part of a team representing a national or territorial body.

The club/club officers are also under the Public Liability insurance covered should they be deemed liable for injury or damage caused to a person or property which includes athletes, club members spectators etc.

The insurance policy defines an athlete as having paid (or deemed to have paid) subscriptions to a UKA affiliated club.

If they do not satisfy these criteria they are not covered under the PL insurance (e.g. athlete wearing club vest but not paid subscriptions). "
