Southern Athletics League Results and Next Match

Winchester finished in third place in the Southern athletics League match at Bracknell on Sunday 22nd May against strong competition, it was very close between 2nd to 4th place with only four points between the three teams.

  Team   Score
  1 Bracknell

  2 Wycombe Phoenix Harriers

  3 Winchester

  4 Brighton & Hove
Thanks to our officials who worked very hard all throughout the match with the added complication of an 'oops' in the throws cage leading to delays in the long throwing events.
Winchester athletes produced lots of great performances including too many PBs to mention.  It was great to see so many athletes from U17 to Veteran 60 age groups taking part, being competitive and enjoying themselves.
The next match is at Plymouth on Saturday 18th June.
We would like to know people's availabilty now, so that we can look at hiring a minibus / minibuses.
Or alternatively why not make a weekend of it and stay down in Devon for the weekend :-)
Please email the team managers with your availability and choice of events and whether you'd be interested in going on a minibus and whether you would be able to drive a minibus some of the way.

SAL Match Sunday 22nd May at Bracknell U17s to Vets - Sign up Now

Please sign up now for the second Southern Athletics League match on Sunday 22nd May at Bracknell
(RG12 7NN)

SAL is a track and field league for both Men and Women for all age groups from U17 through to seniors and veterans (minimum age of 15 on 31st August 2016, there is no upper age limit!). Points are awarded for two athletes per club per discipline, additional 'non-scoring' athletes are also encouraged. There are many events to cover so we need as many people as possible to take part.

There are a wide variety of standards of athletes, you don't need to be experienced in track and field to take part or 'fast' to run on the track, so come along and give it a go! Try something new or keep trying for those PBs.

The league covers all sprints, hurdles, throws, jumps, middle and long distance runs and steeplechase. For the full choice of events please see the timetable (for long distance/steeple look at '2' in the brackets for the distance):

It is free to enter and in order to sign up you simply need to be a fully paid-up first claim member of WADAC and to email your team manager below with your choice of events along with your England Athletics licence number now and we will publish the team sheet before the event.

WADAC finish 2nd place in SAL Match at Winchester

WADAC hosted the first Southern Athletics League match of the 2016 season on Saturday, on a cold day day that felt closer to Winter than Spring!

Thank you to all the officials, some of whom were wearing more layers than for a ski trip!  I hope you all warmed up soon.

Thanks to all the other helpers who made the match run very smoothly, the league secretary commented upon our efficient delivery of results and again visiting clubs enjoyed the display of results on the projector screen.

The full results can be found on the southern Athletics League site (soon to be on the Power of Ten also)

Thanks to everyone who took part, it was great to see many U17s new to this league (and new members) competing and enjoying themselves.  It was a close match and in the end we finished second against some strong competition.

The next match is a SUNDAY 22nd May at Bracknell, please put it in your diaries.
