Southern Athletics League
Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 10:30PM This summer season Winchester will be competing in the newly formed Southern Athletics League (this is instead of the Southern Womens League and Southern Mens League). There are five fixtures, all held on Saturday afternoons.
Both Men and Women compete at the same fixtures, which will add to the atmosphere and excitement of the day.
There is only one age group (seniors) in which U17s, U20s, seniors and veterans can all compete together. This is a great opportunity for everyone and particularly exciting for our young athletes to be able to gain experience of senior athletics in a fun (but still competitive) environment.
This is an inclusive league and there is no minimum standard. On the track we need two scorers in each event (only one required in the ladies steeplechase!) plus we are allowed as many non-scorers as we like! In the field events we need two scorers per event and are allowed one non scoring athlete.
You do not need prior experience of competing in track and field, you do not need to be 'fast' in order to race on the track, nor do you need to be highly skilled in throwing or jumping. What we need is enthusiasm and people who are willing to have a go. You might just unleash talents that have been hidden since school sports day! You are guaranteed a fun day out, good company, a great speed/strength/power training session (and possibly even a suntan!), what more could you ask for!

For the Battersea and Croydon matches there will be a team coach to transport us so no-one has to drive or navigate.
