Theatre Trip - The loneliness of the Long Distance Runner

How about a trip to the Theatre Royal in Winchester to see The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner?  i suggest Friday 16th Nov (as it's not a training night) at 8pm.

Colin is defiant. A young rebel, inhabiting the no-man’s land of detention centres and young offenders’ institutes, as his steady running rhythm transports him over a harsh, frost-bitten earth.

Adapted by BAFTA winning and Olivier Award nominated playwright Roy Williams OBE (Sucker Punch, Fallout, Sing Yer Heart Out For The Lads), this gritty adaptation of Alan Sillitoe’s classic text hits the ground running; unlocking the biting realism of the original book while placing the drama firmly in a contemporary frame.

The play exposes the beating heart of a nation, still broken and still divided across class lines. Set in 2012, stunning visuals by leading video artists KMA are incorporated into an exciting design as we follow Colin’s race, unpicking his thoughts and becoming part of his journey.

WADAC London Marathon Celebrations

Best of luck to all WADAC runners in London this Sunday, especially Louise Damon in her bid for the Olympic team.

For anyone who hasn’t done it before, we try to congregate afterwards at the meeting area under the W tree, I hope to see as many of you there as possible, all with shiny new PBs obviously!

But also I hoped we could resurrect the Pub of the month from 8:30 next Thursday (26^th April) for everyone to come and celebrate – after training for those who didn’t run.

A drink and some good value food at the Queen Inn, 28 Kingsgate Road, Winchester, Hampshire, SO23 9PG.
