Alan Murchison wins European duathlon championship again

It wasn't just at the London marathon that WADAC members were excelling yesterday.  Alan Murchison ran a 15.04 5k on the way to winning his age group at the ETU European Sprint Duathlon Championships in Horst, Netherlands.

Alan came third overall in the race, beaten only by a 23 year old world champ and a 30 year old - not bad seeing Alan is in the 40-44 age group.  The event comprises a 5k run, 20km bike then a 2.5k run and Alan had the fastest run splits of the day.  "There's life in the old dog yet," he said afterwards.

His next stop is the world championships in six weeks. He is reigning age group world champ - looks like he's on track to retain that title, too.

The picture shows Alan leading the race in the first run.

New, local early season open water swimming event

This should be a good event, organised by friends of mine who are GB tri and duathletes, so they know what a good race needs to be.
