Some fine runs over a muddy course near Oxford

We had 13 athletes registered for the Southern XC Masters Championships on 10th December but that proved an unlucky number as our team chances rather disappeared in a flurry of sick-notes and travel problems.

In the end we had 7 runners taking part in this high quality event over an entertaining course in Horspath, Oxford.  This event is run in tandem with the Inter County XC Championships so provides an entertaining mix of speedy youngsters representing their county - the Hampshire Team being managed by our own David Vosser - and the rather more sedate Masters entrants.  Quite thrilling to be giving it your best only to be completely eclipsed by a swarm of u13's heading for the same corner of a muddy field - a bit like training on the grass at Bar End on a Tuesday night.

This event draws a high quality mix of the best runners in the South from across all ages but you also see the same friendly faces from our Hampshire events as everyone tries to find a bit of shelter in the Vosser tent - it's great fun.

For the record the WADAC Masters taking part were (in the order of their races) :

Graham Bungay  - age cat 17th
Steve Oliver - age cat 21st
Sarah Gurney - age cat 12th
Emma Carter - age cat 7th
Alison Fenwick - age cat 13th
Madeline Vosser - age cat 10th
Pete Sansome - age cat 36th
