In July 2019, U20 Women’s High Jumper, Jess Gordon, was selected, for the third consecutive season, to represent Hampshire at the English Schools competition in Birmingham; finishing in a best ever performance of second place with a jump of 1.72m.
Jess’ 2019 season has gone from strength to strength, back in May Jess set her first PB in 2 years by jumping 1.70m breaking both the Winchester Club record and the all time club record for U20 Women’s High Jump. A month later and Jess broke the records again with a new personal best and national standard jump of 1.72m.
Just 2 days after English Schools, Jess competed in the 8 Counties Inter County Championship and despite being exhausted she managed a very respectable 3rd place. Later in the same month Jess competed in her first senior competition; the CAU Inter-County Championships (inc England Athletics Senior Championships) and despite being the youngest athlete in the 15 strong field of high jumpers Jess managed a very respectable 7th overall.
In August, the highlight to the season, Jess was selected to represent England at the Youth Nations Cup in Dublin.
In September Jess has been selected to represent Hampshire in the U20s Southern Inter Counties Match where she’s hoping for an end of season personal best.
