WADAC Wessex XC League Team Manager, Pete Curtis, provides us with the following report from today's event. In doing so he sets a new club record for Wessex XC League reporting, beating the old record by about a fortnight.

Despite the bad weather forecast, only light showers, cloudy skies and a brisk wind greeted the runners at the first Wessex Cross Country fixture of the year at Canford Heath.

In the first race, Poppy Taylor led from the start of the girls U11s and never looked like being challenged to take a fine race victory. Lucia Bertacchini (7th) and Rosanna Fox-Robinson (11th) provided great support to be the first team home. Chloe Poore (15th), Elodie Gill (20th), Sophie Brush (30th), Rosie Kettle (33rd), Emily Ainsworth-Fletcher (34th), Charlotte Wolfe (35th), Amber Price (37th) and Ava Cassia (38th) completed the WADAC finishers.

In the boys U11s, rival team managers were left disappointed, as WADAC took a clean sweep of the podium positions. Casper Wilson took the win, followed by Seth Noott (2nd) and the fast finishing Zac Reynolds (3rd). Bradley Lewis grabbed a top 10 finish in 9th with plenty of WADAC support from Oscar Coupe (17th), Toby Pope (18th), Jude Fisher (20th), Monty Wilden (24th), Rory Dobson (28th), Tom Price (34th) and Oscar Robertson (36th).

WADAC also had good representation in the U13s. Safiya Husain (5th) and Zara Barker (9th) took top 10 positions, followed by Scarlett Anderson (12th), Rebecca Hutchings (16th), Maisie Curtis (28th), Summer Curtis (31st) and Amelie Gill (37th).

In the boys race, Reuben Price (10th) placed in the top 10, followed by Jacob Hutchings (15th), Julian Robinson (17th), Matthew Friend (22nd) and Oscar Banting (25th).

In the U15s, Leo Smith (10th), William Thompson (11th) and Ben Hutchings (15th) all finished in good positions in the boys race, as did Freya Pope (15th) in the girls race.

Before I took down the tent, I provided WADACs sole entrant in the senior mens race, finishing a respectable 22nd.
