The seventh and final report

Here is our seventh weekly email setting out what is on this week.

As some groups have started or are about to start training face to face this will be the final weekly email. Where groups continue to train online, the coaches will send separate emails to their athletes.

I hope you have found these emails and the online sessions helpful and I look forward to seeing you training soon, albeit in small groups.


The following sessions (that we know of – there may be more) are taking place, either using online platforms or by following training programmes provided. In addition, some coaches have restarted or are planning to restart training in small groups, with only those having renewed their membership able to participate. Please note the track is still closed:

  • Club adult or junior sessions, hosted by Nick Anderson and supported by other coaches on Tuesdays (open to up to 100 participants). Tuesday June 16th at 7pm will be be an adult session although juniors are welcome. Karen Hazlett will be interviewing Nick Anderson on his career as an athlete and coach. Details have been set out by email.
  • Senior endurance suggestions: Session suggestions:

W/C 15th June

Monday easy runs and core with Andy P 7pm Zoom

Tuesday - 4 x 1200 fast @ 5k pace off 3-4 min jog rec….then 3 x 400 fast @3k pace off 1 min jog

Wednesday 60-75 mins easy

Thursday 10/10/10 progression run….this is easy/steady/threshold as continuous 30 mins

Friday REST

Saturday 5k TT for BMAF champs or your own personal TT + 30 easy after. I would leave your 5k TT until today if you raced the 10k TT last weekend…this allows good recovery and a tuesday session.

Sunday - Long run as last week OR Arlesford 10k TT as tempo run within your long run?

  • David Vosser (endurance) – athletes are following a monthly programme which has been circulated.
  • Andy Parkinson – adult strength and conditioning sessions online Monday at 7pm each week. Details sent out via email.
  • Steve Torrance – Online session consisting of warm up : exercise session : Sportshall event : fun challenge : quiz on (Thursdays at 6.30pm for an hour).
  • John Miller – athletes are following a programme concentrating on strength/elastic and conditioning while maintaining good aerobic capacity.
  • George Ogilvie (sprints and hurdles) – small group training.
  • Paul Cox, the Development Group is restarting this week in small groups.
  • Martin McBriar (throws) – small group training
  • Elias Mtshweni – online Zoom pole vault session on Wednesdays at 5pm. Sessions for sprinters on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5pm.
  • Dave Sherry and Gary Bettridge (hurdles) – online strength and conditioning twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  • Andy Fisher (multi events and jumps) – small group training including commencing the u13 academy in small groups.
