Race Report from Canford Heath

In recent years, WADAC has used the Wessex Cross Country League to support athletes that are new to the club or cross country or unable to compete in the Hampshire Cross Country League. Primarily, this is Under 11s.

On Sunday 17th Oct, on a glorious early autumn day, a small group of athletes took part in the first Wessex Cross Country race at Canford Heath.

In the first race of the day, for girls under 11, Evie Smith ran a great debut race, to finish 13th out of 28 runners.

In the boys under 11 race, Eddie Clegg was the top WADAC performer of the day, with a well-paced race to finish a superb 4th place. Sam Barton placed 15th of 29 runners.

In the girls under 13 race, Charlotte Austin finished 23rd of 27 runners. In the boys under 15 race, Matthew Friend stepping up in distance finished 17th of 23 runners.

In the senior men’s race, Franklyn Young and Pete Curtis got in some early season cross country practice, finishing 17th and 18th (7th and 8th vets) respectively against our west-country rivals.
