Superlative Masters - Records Smashed !

I was Inspired by the 30 New Junior Club Records….  Though at the other end of Club Record spectrum…. I am absolutely  blown away – New Club Masters Records are showing 44 records have been broken  … Absolutely Fantastic

Given the strength and advancement of the Winchester and District Masters teams… with a wonderful performance of the ladies in the Southern Finals…. a great training ethos…. a  great team spirit

…  I shouldn’t really be surprised that Athletes are pushing boundaries and records are tumbling….

When coaching Juniors, we always talk about development athletes for the longer term… the Group of Athletes at Winchester provide a brilliant Role Model…  Jonathan Kane smashing club records through the V70 category, Moria West demolishing V65 club records for the Women…

The Juniors had to deliver brilliant performances achieve Club Records.  For the Masters Records they are no less easier…!

Martin Manion had to run even faster than his more (erm) junior age category and achieve top 10 UK Rankings  to gain V50 Club Records…

Sue Van Vuuren had to achieve multiple top 10 national rankings and win the British Masters Championships to achieve a Club Masters Record… a sensational run, against a head wind of 1.4m per second and faster than her more youthful age categories. Brilliant.

Joy Radford, not only had to achieve top 15 national rankings, but also had to improve upon performances set by British Masters Champions to be able to achieve a Club Masters Record.

Absolutely inspiring…Congratulations to the new Club Record Holders...

For the Ladies, 20 New Records: Congratulations to:  Kathryn Miles, Sue Van Vuuren, Moria West, Joy Radford, Jo Jefferies, Lucy Elliott, Sally Easton, Jo Curtis, Gill Goodwin, Alison Fenwick, Heather Mballa and Sue Hume….

For the Men, 24 New Records: Congratulations to: Stephen Pethan, Paul Neville, David Vosser, Martin Manion, Julian Mann, Simon Stevens, Marius Kwint, Andy Gannaway, Stephen Goodwin, Martyn West, Jonathan Kane, Ben Anderson, Derek Smith, Jeremy Clifton, Elias Mtshweni, Henry Hopkins…

Very well done indeed….

All Club Records are being verified and will be updated on the Club Website when complete…

To achieve records, the Athletes have had to surpass a very high bar.  For example, Glen Foster had to improve on the oldest WADAC Male record that as stood since 1981…Thomas Gillespie’s had to set a New Age Group Record  that is 16th on the All Time Rankings for an U15 Boy, to achieve a Winchester U15B Club Age Group Record.  Fantastic Performances….

This year, there  were also 4 Performances Outstanding Performances, that are not only the best performances for their Age Group, but also the best performances for any age group in Winchester and District and truly stand out as Club Records… Congratulations to Fiona Brown, Isobel Gray, Jack Messenger and Calum Upton for setting new Club Records.

Very well done indeed to all new Club Record Holders....
