Club Achievements 2021-22
WADAC is very proud of all the achievements of its members at a local, county, regional, national and international level. Whilst it is not possible to list every achievement made by teams and individuals at the club we have set out below some of the achievements of the club and its members. Thank you to all the athletes, coaches, officials, and other helpers who have contributed to these achievements over the years.
We aim to cover most county, regional, national and international competitions.
2021-2022:
Awards:
Runner up in the Club of the Year Award (SE region); Steve Oliver, Winner of the Unsung Hero of the Year Award (SE region).
Team:
In the BMAF Half Marathon Champs, Nick Wood, Steve Oliver and Steve Goodwin won bronze;
Wessex Track and Field Champions;
Wessex Quadkids Champions;
Won all league matches in the YDL (lower and Upper);
v45 ladies team won bronze at the British Masters National Cross Country Champs;
many top 10 finishes by the junior teams in the National Cross Country Champs;
v50 and v40 ladies team won gold and bronze respectively at the South of England Masters Cross Country Relays;
8The men's and women's team secured 4th place in the CC6;
County team medals: in Hampshire XC championships we won gold team medals in U11s boys and girls, U13 boys, u15 boys, U17 Men, silver for u15 girls, bronze in U11s boys and U13s girls;
Individual:
3 athletes reached the standard to attend National U20 and U23 Champs - Harry Crosby won a bronze medal for long jump, Sam Clifton came 7th in the Hammer and Oliver Thatcher came 10th in the High Jump;
U15s Arabella Wilson and Abigail Belwood won gold and silver respectively in the Hexathlon at the National Age Champs;
7 athletes qualified for the National u15 and u17s Champs - Natasha Mitchell (u17s) won a gold medal in the walk, Rosa- May Sprake (u15s) won a bronze in the discus and Arabella Wilson (u15s) won bronze in the 300m;
Gold medal for Harry Crosby in the long jump and bronze medal for Oliver Thatcher in the high jump at the South of England U20 Champs;
13 athletes called up to represent Hampshire in English Schools;4 medals in the English Schools Championship including a silver for Harry Crosby in the long jump (seniors), bronze for Arabella Wilson in 300m (juniors), bronze for Charlie Elford-Pond in the hammer (intermediate) and bronze for Erin McBriar in the discus (juniors);
Charlie Elford Pond and Liv Busher selected for the England School Games with Charlie securing a third place finish in the u17 hammer;
12 medals at the South of England Age Champs (U13-U17s) including one gold, 4 silvers and 7 bronzes for the following people, gold and silver for U13 girl Lucia Bertacchini in the High Jump and Long Jump respectively, bronze for U13 girl Beth Mballa in the shot, bronze for U13 boy Ethan Skipwith in the shot, silver and 2 bronzes for U15 girl Arabella Wilson in the long jump and shot and 200m respectively, bronze for U15 girl Erin McBriar in the discus and hammer, bronze for U15 girl Abi Belward in the High Jump, silver for U15 boy Oscar Webb in the High Jump;
silver for U17 boy Charlie Elford Pond in the hammer;
in the BMAF Track and Field Champs, Moira West (W70+) won gold in both the 100m and 200m, Jane Gandee (W45) won silver in the 1500m and Dave Roberts (V50) won bronze in the triple jump;
in the BMAF 10 mile Champs, Nick Wood (V45) and Lynne Whitaker (W60) both won gold;
in the BMAF Half Marathon Champs, Gill Goodwin (W60) won individual bronze;
in the Anglo Celtic Plate, Karla Borland won a silver medal for Northern Ireland in the 100km race;
Kath Bailey and Jane Gandy (v50) secured gold and bronze respectively at the South of England Masters Cross Country Relays;
South of England indoor age champs 4 golds, 5 silvers and 2 bronze.
County individual medals and vests:
Abi Belward secured Gold and Ruben Price secured Silver in the County Championship combined events (u15s);
in Hampshire Champs we secured 68 medals (29 Gold, 28 Silver and 11 Bronze list here);
18 athletes represented Hampshire in the Inter counties South of England Cross Country Champs;
13 athletes called up to represent Hampshire in English Schools;
Hampshire XC champs Luke Furby secured silver in u11 boys, Casper Wilson gold in u13 boys, Kate Atkinson silver in u13 girls, Will Atkins bronze in u15 boys, Darcy Hawkins bronze in u15 girls, and Harry Wilson silver in u17 men.
Vests:
Harry Crosby secured a GB vest to represent the juniors in the Manchester International;
Karla Borland secured a Northern Ireland vest in the 100km race in the Anglo Celtic Plate;
Stuart McCallum represented GB in the senior men’s race at the European Cross Country Championships;
Ruben Price represented England schools junior boys as part of the winning team in the mixed relay race at the schools cross country Home International match.
