About Juniors Y5-12 Cross Country and Distance Running
Junior athletes, who are interested in long distance running and are committed to competing in cross country competitions during the winter, can attend specialised distance-running sessions. These take place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
The distance-running groups focus on developing a good running form and building up an athlete’s endurance level. The groups will prepare the athletes for cross country and road relay competitions as well as helping them to run faster parkruns and summer middle-distance events.
At WADAC, we are fortunate to have some extremely well qualified and experienced distance-running coaches, who will greatly improve the athletes' ability in this area.
Training Sessions
Training sessions take place at the athletics stadium on Bar End Road in Winchester. Please park at Barfield Close Park and Ride, which is free in the evenings.
School year 5 to 12 athletes can attend sessions either on Tuesdays or Thursdays, or both, according to the athlete's preference. The sessions start at 5.30pm (finish 6.30pm) and 6.30pm (finish 7.30pm) and are on grass or track during both winter and summer months.
