Club Achievements

WADAC is very proud of all the achievements of its members at a local, county, regional, national and international level. Whilst it is not possible to list every achievement made by teams and individuals at the club we have set out below some of the achievements of the club and its members. Thank you to all the athletes, coaches, officials, and other helpers who have contributed to these achievements over the years.

We aim to cover most county, regional, national and international competitions.

2023- 2024

Team:

  • Great results at Eastleigh 10k securing the men’s and women’s teams second place finishes.

  • Won the lower YDL title and the Upper YDL title to seal promotion into the premier league in both competitions;

  • Women win the Hampshire Vets League and the men came fourth;

  • Seniors win the title in the SAL and secure promotion to Division 1;

  • Quadkids secure the Wessex track and field title;

  • Ladies win RR10 and men are runners up;

Individual:

  • Jess Howells goes 15th on UK all time age group lists by throwing the 500g javelin out to 47m exactly at the Basingstoke Winter throws event.

  • Nick Fleeman came 7th in the 3000m walk for the V65 age group at the European Masters indoor champs in Torun, Poland.

  • Jess Howells came 4th in the shot putt at the Surrey indoor champs in Carlshalton.

  • Elodie Gill comes 3rd in the 800m at the Lee Valley Middle Distance Open and gets a new pb of 2 mins 34.02 secs.

  • Kathryn Miles takes bronze at British Indoors Masters Champs.

  • WADAC women bring home 6 medals from the South of England and Welsh U20 indoor champs including 2 gold;

  • Abi Belward finishes 7th overall in the first indoor championship of the year in Sheffield and finished 2nd in the Welsh U20s indoor combined events champs.

  • Jonathan Kane finishes 2nd in his age group (80+) in the London Marathon 2023.

  • Jeremy Clifton wins gold in the discus, HJ and shot and silver in the javelin at the World Transplant Games (age 50-59);

  • Alex Beck won bronze in the 400m and silver in the 4 x 400m relay at the Commonwealth Youth Games;

  • Five junior athletes selected to take part in the London Mini Marathon;

  • Karla Borland won bronze at the Anglo Celtic Plate 100km race;

  • Moira West broke the V70 100m and 200m British records, Lucy Elliott broke the V55 3000m British record and Shelley Parr broke the V50 discus British record;

  • Naomi Mitchell won the ladies race at the Manchester Marathon;

  • 26 young athletes selected for English Schools;

  • Gracie Osman won the junior girls title in the South East Schools Combined Events and went on to win the National Schools Combined Events title;

  • Charlie Elford Pond came second in the Hammer in the U20 Welsh International;

  • Lily Neate won a bronze medal as part of Team England in the U20 European Road Race;

  • Five athletes accepted onto the EA YTP programme;

  • Won 5 individual medals at the National Champs; Abi McBriar silver in the u15G javelin and bronze in the discus event; Will Atkins silver in the u17M 3000m; Erin McBriar bronze u17W discus; Gracie Osman bronze bronze j the u15G long jump;

  • Won 10 medals at the South of England Age Group Champs;

  • At English schools, Arabella Wilson retained her 300mH title. Abi McBriar (discus), Gracie Osman (LJ) and Alex Beck (400m) won silver and Will Atkins (1500m) and Charlie Elford-Pond (hammer) won bronze;

  • For the National Indoor Age Group Champs, Mia Judd won the title for HJ, Lucia Bertacchini won silver in the 300m, Zac Reynolds and Gracie Osman won bronze in the 300m and LG respectively;

County individual medals and vests:

  • 15 athletes represented Hampshire in the South of England inter-counties match;

  • Won 106 medals (46 Gold, 35 Silver and 25 bronze medals) at the Hampshire Track and Field Championships;

Vests:

  • Nick Fleeman selected to represent GB in the 3000m racewalk at the European Indoor Masters at Tourn in Poland in March 2024;

  • Karla Borland represented NI at the Anglo Celtic Plate 100km race;

  • Lily Neate and Charlie Elford Pond earned a England Vest in Welsh U20 International taking part in the 300m and hammer respectively;

  • Annie Mann selected for GB juniors in the international match at Loughborough;

  • Annie Mann, Alex Beck and Bella Wilson selected to represent team England for the Commonwealth Youth Games in 1500m, 400m and 400mh respectively;

  • Gracie Osman represented England in the Indoor Combined Events in Cardiff and came fourth helping the England Team win the u16 title;
