Harestock Handicap - 7th January 2016
The 2016 Handicap series is off to a cracking start with a record-breaking turnout of 33 runners for this first race of the 2016 series. We had 4 event newbies in Ianthe Edgeley, Michaella Price, Annie Hazlitt and Warren Jackson-Hookins plus Emma Carter making her first return to the event since December 2012! We also had fantastic close racing with 21 runners meeting or beating their handicap and no fewer than 19 runners crossing the line more or less together in the "rush 10secs" that is the blanket finish. Happy days for the handicapper! Our winner on the night was Nikki Cook smashing her previous best by 30secs and comfortably surviving the stewards enquiry into her alleged false start. Second home was Emma Carter with Jonathan Kane third.
n
nFastest runner was again Ian Debnam whose 6'05 was easily the class of the field. On a night when no-one really threatened the honours board a special mention for Lloyd Dickson who improved his PB to 6'59 and moved up to No.48.

n
nIt is academic to talk of the overall standings at this early stage but Nikki Cook is in the lead! We can however say with certainty that only 33 runners are still in with a chance of collecting a coveted "12 out of 12" award.
