Harestock Handicap - 4th February 2016
It was a special night at the Harestock Handicap - the 50th running of this event and we had a record turnout of 35 runners all wearing red to celebrate the occasion.
n35 runners of which 8 were very welcome event newbies and one of whom, Louis Wallace, stormed round to be a clean winner with a very respectable time of 6'40.......straight onto the honours board at No.29. Second on the night was Emma Rolfe with another newbie, Caroline Carr, in third. Generally the newcomers all did well and packed out the top 10 places in tonights race. All in all it was a poor night for the handicapper with no fewer than 24 runners meeting or beating their handicap.....time to sharpen the pencil.
n
nFastest on the night was Ian Debnam in 6'03 and we had 7 athletes under 7mins. Congratulations to Warren Jackson-Hookins, sneaking onto the honours board in 51st place with a time of 7'00.

nIn the overall standings Carrie Oliver leads the way from Jonathan Kane and Charlie Hoskins. It is early days though and with 4 discards allowed literally anyone could still win so do come along and give it a go next month, it is always on the first Thursday of the month.

nFinally a note of commiserations to Robert Bryan who was unable to take part tonight and so his streak of 17 consecutive harestock handicaps comes to an end.
