WADAC Junior endurance runners record season's best results
n
nThe girls’ race started proceedings in bright sunshine, and our
nteam was led home by Amelia Moore in 23rd place, running strongly
nthroughout. Next for Winchester was Lara Bassett, stepping up to U13s from her
nU11 age group, and coming in 31st with an impressive pacy finish. The team was
ncompleted by Lily Neate in 39th. These results were good enough to
ngive the WADAC team 7th place on the day. Both our other runners,
nAlex Montgomery in 44th and Emma Shedden in 47th, made a
nfine start to U13 racing, again both were stepping up from their U11 age group.
n
nThe WADAC Boys team fielded an eye-catching 15 runners, and
nagain included several U11s promoted to U13 for the day. The trio of Doug
nScally in 12th, James Medley 16th on debut and Harry Harvey 20th
nwas good enough to secure 2nd team place behind the usual strong AFD
ncontingent. These three were closely followed by Charlie Kyle 21st,
nMichael Shingleton-Smith 23rd, Toby Pace 33rd and Ben
nChesterfield 34th, all four boys being U11s racing at U13 for the first time. Next came Thomas Briggs
n42nd, Sam Roberts 48th, Freddie Coulson 49th,
nWilliam Agombar 50th, Ben Schofield 60th, Sam Williams (U11)
n63rd, Paddy Hewson 70th and Arthur Chambers on debut 72nd.
n
nCongratulations to all our runners on a really strong team
nperformance.
n
nThe next Hampshire League fixture will be at Prospect Park,
nReading on January 14th, where there will be U11 races as well as
nU13. A week before that, on January 7th, the annual Hampshire Championship
nraces will be taking place at Fairthorne Manor, Botley, where Junior Endurance
nCoaches Nick Anderson and Tom Craggs are expected to field a huge contingent of
nWADAC U11 and U13 runners.
