Harestock Handicap Results for March 2017

There were 24 contestants for the March Handicap and we all enjoyed great conditions for fast running on this, the last of the dark nights. There were no newbies (that in itself is something of a first) but with Jo Jeffries making her first appearance for nearly 2 years and 4 others (the Goodwins, Carrie Baker and Alan Hitch) making their first of 2017 there were plenty of welcomes going around. It was also something of a prize event with Brooks ID Coach "Badges of Honour" to be had.
nSo to the race itself, fantastic! Fast conditions with 15 runners beating their handicaps and 13 in the blanket finish "sweet spot". Robert Bryan was our winner, finally in his 33rd attempt at the handicap, just passing Tim Mason and Richard Nichols near the line. It was good competitive racing as these three runners set off in 16secs apart in mid-pack but finished at the front and only 4 secs apart.
nFastest on the night was James Moore with 6'06 with Joe Chick in 6'18 and Lloyd Dickson in 6'38. Lloyd deserves special mention for this 20secs PB moving him up to No.32 on the honours board....we suspect it might have had something to do with his vain attempt to catch up with Carrie !

nThree races in and folks are already starting to ask about the overall standings....early days and much can and will change but Robert Bryan leads the way from Tim Mason, Andy Gannaway, Richard Nichols and Lloyd Dickson. Annie Smith is our leading lady. There are plenty discards and at this stage anyone - even a brand newbie starting for the first time at the next race - could win so please do come along on the first Thursday of April, the 6th, to celebrate the new tax year.
