The April Handicap was a cracker
The April handicap is usually the first of the "daylight" runs and generally serves up fast times - this year however had the handicapper hanging his head in shame as in benign conditions no fewer than 22 runners beat their handicaps and Steve Goodwin was home and hosed ridiculously early.
nWe had 26 runners including 3 speedy newbies in Annie Dixey, Pete Sansome and Matt Grote plus Adrian Field was there making his first appearance of 2017. Coming back strongly from injury Steve Goodwin was an easy first from Pete Watts clear in second and Ianthe Edgeley kept ahead of the pack to claim third. We did have an exciting blanket finish though with 11 runners in the 10 second sweet spot - just a shame the sweet spot was at -17 secs. The full results can be seen here: Harestock Handicap 2017 04
nIt was a night for fast times and we had no fewer than 11 runners under 7 mins. Of those there were PB's for:Steve Cluett (6'54 and 53rd on the honours board)Andy Gannaway continuing a streak of PB's in 2017 (6'30 and 28th)Matt Grote (6'18 and 15th)Lloyd Dickson yes another PB for Lloyd too (6'12 and 11th)Pete Sansome (5'45 and 2nd)With that performance no surprise that Pete was fastest on the night with James Moore next (5'56). The fastest lady was Annie Dixey (7'03).With all the honours board excitement the current Top 40 can be seen here Handicap Honours Board April 2017
nStill early days but Robert Bryan leads the overall standings from Lloyd Dickson and Andy Gannaway....at this stage it is all to play for so why not put the May running of the Harestock Handicap into your diaries? The first Thursday in May is the 4th.
