Wessex League Track & Field Oxford Match 3
Winchester & District Athletic Club (WADAC) competed in the final two matches of the Wessex League Track & Field League to end a successful season. The 3rd match was held just outside Oxford at the Horspath track in warm conditions. The team finished 4th on the day mostly due to the fact there were no Under 17 women available on the day and only two Under 17 men for WADAC. However those two Under 17 men proved invaluable with Dan Thomas having a superb day with three victories in the 200m 23.5 which was a PB, 400m 52.8 and 100m hurdles 15.1. His fellow U17 Charlie Brown equalled his PB in winning the 200m B race in 24.9.
nIn the U15G section Holly Pilkington emphasised her improvement this season by winning the 100m B race in 13.5 as well as jumping an excellent PB of 4.76m (G3) in the Long Jump, Holly also found time to throw the Discus 12.78m for 2nd B. WADAC gained good points in the 800m with Isabella Beck winning the A race strongly in a PB of 2.29.9 and Sophie Torrance finishing 2nd B in 2.40.7 with Sophie also gaining points in the 300m. In her first competitive season Lottie Thorington has also been improving and this was shown with her win in the 200m B race in 28.6 with Megan Heal in 3rd in the A race in 28.5, Lottie also high jumped 1.20m for 2nd in the B string. Another pair of newbies did very well in the Javelin with Tamsin Hoult winning the B with a throw of 18.01m and Tatjana Kristensen 3rd A 19.20m. Serena Charles propelled the Shot 9.06m for 2nd A. The 1500m pair of Sasha Tydeman and Hannah Foster ran brave races with Sasha 2nd A in 5.07.2 and Hannah 2nd B 5.21.6. The 4x100 relay of Holly Pilkington Ella Popowicz Megan Heal and Serena Charles ran 55.5 for 2nd position. Emily Weeks and Olivia Jones gained good points for WADAC in the hurdles, Long Jump, High Jump and 300m.

nAndrew Stanfield and Iwan Wrey-Brown again were excellent in the U15B sprints. Andrew was 2nd in both the 200m and 300m A races with times of 24.8 and 39.3 (G2) and Iwan was 2nd B 200m 25.6 and won the 300m B in 42.6.Both Andrew and Iwan ran legs of the 4x100 along with Thomas Stockdale and Ben Thomas to achieve a fine 2bnd position in a time of 49.8. In the 1500m Doug Scally as usual ran strongly to finish 2nd in 4.41.5 with team-mate James Medley gaining 1st B in 4.55.7. Ben Thomas jumped to a superb PB of 5.59m in the Long Jump for victory and looks a good prospect going forward. Alex Miles gained good points in the throws with a fine PB in the Javelin with 38.79m for 2nd and also threw 24.45m in the Discus also for 2nd.

nAlice Eyssens had a double win in the U13G section running 14.1 (G3) for 100m B and hurdled 12.6 (G4) to win the 70m hurdles B race. Olivia Busher once again threw consistently and was 2nd A Discus 19.20m and 3RD in the Javelin with 26.31m (G1). Aisling Hitchman ran well to finish 2nd B in 2.50.3. In the longest event in this category the 1200m Rose Chesterfield was 3rd in 4.10.3 and Jasmine Jones 2nd B in 4.25.3 (PB).

nThere was a double win in Under 13 boys with Arthur Chambers achieving 1.30m (G4) to win the A event & Theo Harvey jumping 1.20m to win the B string. Finn Lakin had a good run in the 75m hurdles to be victorious in the B race. Finlay Wrey Brown launched the Javelin 25.67m (G4) for 2nd A.

nIn the separate Under 11 Quad Kids section WADAC were a brilliant 3rd overall with Alice Clegg best placed girl in 4th out of the 52 female competitors with 203 points, her stand out results a 3.42m Long Jump and 11.3 75m. Amy Porter and Caitie Croft were equal 8th with 194 points with Caitie’s 28.21m Vortex an impressive effort. Lauren Richards was 14th including 2.03 600m. In the boys Tom Grote was an excellent 3rd out of 44 athletes and he had the fastest 600m with a rapid 1.51.5. Stan Parkinson continued his very good season in 6th position.
