nperform well at English Schools Track and Field Championships and discovered a World Champion in their midst!

nFive WADAC athletes competed at the English Schools Track
nand Field Championships on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th
nJuly, for Hampshire and their respective schools/colleges.
n
n
nGlen Foster (Senior Boys High Jump), put in a sterling
nperformance to take 6th place with a PB of 2.03 metres, to rapturous
napplause from the enthusiastic crowd. Three further competitors came a fine 8th
nin their respective events, all succeeding to their finals after initial rounds:
nIsobel Gray (Senior Girls Discus) threw 38.30m, Abigail Dennison (Intermediate
nGirls 300m) with 40.29 seconds. Kanja Mtshweni (Senior Boys 110m
nhurdles) with 15.03 seconds.

nIsobel Gray as one of the girls' two team captains, had
n the role of being Hampshire Team flag
nbearer at the head of the team for the Athletes’ Parade around the track and
ninto the field with Abbie Dennison holding the Hampshire
nplacard.

nSam Clifton (Junior Boys Hammer) succeeded in being the only
nWADAC Junior to qualify for a space, and took a respectable 12th
nplace with 33.58 metres, a great first English Schools attempt in this most
ntechnical of events. Furthermore it materialised Sam’s dad, Jeremy Clifton, despite slight injury niggles , has just
nrecently won 3 golds at the recent World Transplant Games in Long Jump, Shot
nand Discus. Held in Malaga, Spain, he also took silver in High Jump and bronze
nin Javelin.
