Harestock Handicap July 2017
On perhaps the hottest night of the year so far 25 runners contested the July Handicap which saw fast times across the board with Louise Snook holding off Michaela Price to become our 7th different winner this year. There was close racing throughout the field with 15 runners meeting or beating their handicaps and no fewer than 14 runners in the "sweet spot".
nWe had one event newbie, Lynn McKeague who finished a highly creditable 4th, plus Martyn West, Colin Armstrong and Dan Cunnington all making their first appearances of this year.
nFastest man on the night was James Moore in 6'04 and second fastest was Joe Chick with 6'05. Starting off from the same top handicap these two enjoyed thrilling side-by-side racing from start to finish - a lovely way for Joe to sign-off on this his last appearance. Over the years Joe has been a regular, contesting the event 26 times since 2014 and he leaves us sitting proudly at No.8 on the honours board with an event PB of 6'02. You are welcome back anytime Joe.
nSusy Perry was fastest lady with a fine 6'57 to join the honours board at No.58 overall and becoming the 3rd placed lady on the Board.

nIn the overall standings Lloyd Dickson still leads from Ianthe Edgeley, Robert Bryan and Andy Gannaway but it is pretty close and with 5 races still to go (and 2 more discards) it is still anybody's game.
nThe Harestock Handicap is open to all and takes part on the first Thursday on the month.....the next event will be on 3rd August, meet at the track 18.45 for 19.00.
