South of the Thames Cross-Country Champs - 16th December 2017

This is something of a new event in the WADAC calendar. The South of the Thames Cross-Country Champs - Aldershot offers a chance for some more quality XC competition against clubs from across the South. Men and women run together - in a single mass event (ca 7.5miles, 3 laps) starting at 14.00 - but scoring separately with 6 to score per team, both men and women, scored in order of finishing. Open to 1st claim runners only.We do have to preregister athletes (£2 a head) so if you would like to be part of this please contact Steve Oliver (roadrelaysmen@wadac.org.uk). Entries need to be submitted by 9th Dec 2017.The South of the Thames XC Championship over 7.5 miles has been held continuously from 1883 (apart from the war years). There is an equivalent Association for the North of the Thames dealing with the Northern Home Counties.
nThese events are open to all UKA affiliated clubs whose HQ is located South of the River Thames. In its heyday clubs came from as far afield as Bristol and Cardiff, but nowadays clubs generally come from Kent, Surrey including London clubs south of the river, Sussex, Hampshire and maybe Berkshire. In recent years most clubs have come from Kent and Surrey, but with this years Championships being held in Aldershot the organisers are hoping to encourage clubs in Hampshire, Berkshire and West Surrey.
nWe can run as many runners as we want. Runners are scored in teams of 6 in order of finishing B and C teams etc. all appear in the results. Teams finishing 12 male runners in the Championships also compete for a separate Trophy. There are also medals for the first male & female veterans 40, 50 & 60 in the Championships.
