HRRL Race 3: Gosport Half Marathon Results and Write-up

The Gosport Half is always a popular race and we had an amazing 40 WADAC runners on Sunday 19th November. The weather was about the best I can remember at Gosport - dry, cool and only a relatively slight breeze along the sea front.

nOur ladies’ A-team of Karen Rushton, Susy Perry and Sarah Gurney did supremely well, all picking up individual age-category prizes and combining to finish as the first ladies' team by a considerable margin.Similarly impressive results were recorded by Sarah Shedden, Karen Hazlitt and Annie Dixey as our B-team. Karen won a category prize and the team were second only to our own A-team!Penny Freeman, Sarah Reid and Emma Carter made up our ladies' C-team and Shirley Dyson-Laurie finished first in her age-category.

nThe men also put in some great times with our A-team of Richard Parr, Peter Sansome, James Moore and Dan Cunnington finishing as third team overall. No mean feat considering the size and strength of the total field, and aided considerably by Richard's crazy-fast time of 1:15:03.Paul Brittenden, Wayne Bevan, Matt Grote and Mike Chambers made up our men's B-team, whilst our C-team consisted of Lloyd Dickson, Bruce Ayling, Miguel Flores and Andrew Brown. Jonathan Kane also finished first in his age category.

nSo the season continues to pan out well for us -The ladies' A & B-teams each stay at the top of their respective divisions and the C-team move up their table into third place.The men's A-team remain in third place in their division and the B-team move up a place to sit second in their table.
nA huge well done to all forty of you that took part and particular congratulations to everybody that ran a half-marathon PB.

nNeither my typing fingers nor my running legs get much of a rest at this time of year as the Hayling 10 and the Victory 5 quickly follow the Gosport Half on the next two consecutive Sunday's. Best of luck to all taking part.
