Hampshire Sportshall Match 2
Applemore Leisure Centre in the New Forest was the venue for the second match of the Hampshire Sportshall League and Winchester & District Athletic club (WADAC) athletes went to the competition hoping to consolidate the performances from the opening fixture.
nIn the Under 11 Girls category WADAC finished 3rd in the team competition behind Portsmouth and New Forest Juniors and are 3rd overall on aggregate. The top four individuals for each club in each age group provide the scoring teams. Jemima Sullivan was WADAC’S best performer in 7th place out of over 50 girls competing. Jemima had the fastest run in the Hi-stepper event with a very rapid 12.7 seconds. Grace Weeks was next best finisher in 11th, with the 3 Lap providing her best effort in 6th in a time of 41.1 seconds. Annabella Marsh was 14th and she showed great promise in the Chest Push with 3rd equal best throw of 6.25m. Erin McBriar in her first Sportshall season was the final WADAC A team scorer in 28th with a fine Chest Push throw of 6.00m. Other WADAC places Talya Wright 29th : Elisa De Liberali 31st : Abigail McBriar ; Bethany Mballa 44th Amber Harvey 50th.

nOscar Webb had another very good performance in the Under 11 boys event with 7th position, which helped WADAC to 3rd team behind Aldershot and New Forest Juniors and are 2nd overall. Oscar had a strong Chest Push with 6.50m for 2nd best throw of the day. Stan Parkinson was in 12th place and he excelled in the 3 Lap race with a time of 38.4 seconds with equated to the fastest time of the day and also had the fastest time in the Hi-stepper with a time of 13.4. Sam Nicholson shows great promise and he was next best in 17th position with the 4th scoring athlete being Joseph Benzie 20th. The rest of the WADAC athletes were Ben Woodcock 25th Monty Wyatt 28th and Billy Manning 34th.

nThe quartet of Oscar Webb, Stan Parkinson Sam Nicholson and Oscar Hoult ran the 2nd fastest time in the non scoring 4x 1 Lap relay.

nIn the under 13 girls Beth Thorpe continued her superb form with 3rd place overall. Beth had the fastest 2 Lap race of 24.6 and the 3rd best Speed Bounce with 80 in 30 seconds. Emma Shedden was 6th overall and ran 24.8 in the 2 Lap for 3rd fastest time and 52.9 for the 5th fastest 4 Lap time. Jasmine Jones was 3rd scorer in 12th with good shot distance of 5.85m for 6th best throw. Final scorer was Anisha Mathema just back from injury, in 15th position. Other WADAC- Isobel Hollick 16th Kitty Manning 18th; Lola Clements 21st. The team were 2nd on the day and are also 2nd overall.

nThere has been unfortunate drop out from the WADAC under 13 boys age group recently and there was only one WADAV U13B taking part but Oscar Hoult did excellently to finish equal 4th. His best events were 3rd in the Speed Bounce with 70 and 3rd in the shot with 5.69m.

nThe Under 15 girls event WADAC were well represented with Freya Brannigan best placed in 2nd and won the 4 Lap with a time of 50.8. Winner from the first match Alina Eichhorst was 3rd this time, having a good shot with 8.40m for 2nd best throw. Sophie Torrance was 5th having 2nd best Speed Bounce of 78. Isabella Steven was 7th and Jessica Manning 8th.

nThe third match of the League season takes place at the end of January at the Mountbatten Centre Portsmouth.

nThere is a Sportshall South East Regional under 11 match in February where a representative Hampshire will compete against other South East county teams. Already selected for the Hampshire team from WADAC are Jemima Sullivan, Grace Weeks and Annabella Marsh for the girls and Oscar Webb and Stan Parkinson for the boys.
