Details for Ferry Travel to Ryde 10 on Sunday 4th February
IMPORTANT ARRANGEMENTS FOR WADAC GROUP TRIP TO RYDE 10
nThe Ryde 10 is on Sunday 4th February at 11 a.m. This is a lovely, scenic race, normally quite low key and where we can make up a lot of points on our road race rivals by a strong turnout.
nEvery year the club pays for WADAC members to take the ferry to the Isle of Wight. The "easiest" way to do this is for me to buy the tickets online and then all meet at the port for me to share them out. There are often deals at this time of year for multiple bookings, so it pays the club for everybody to go together.
nThese are the important arrangements to enable me to do that:
nMeeting Point and Time
nWe meet at Portsmouth Harbour Ferry Terminal (postcode PO1 3PS). You can get there by car and there are plenty of car parks close by. Portsmouth Harbour also has a train station.
nEveryone should aim to be there by 8.45. The catamaran leaves at 9.15 and I will distribute tickets at 8.45. The ferry leaves only once an hour, so if you miss this one you will struggle to make the race, given it is a bit of a walk (15->20min) to the start from Ryde ferry terminal.
nLocation of the start
nShould you take a different ferry to Ryde terminal and need to get to the start on your own then just walk along the esplanade to the shore, turn left and stick to the coast road until you get to the Ryde Rowing Club. The race start is a short walk away from the club.
nReturn journeys
nI will determine distribution of tickets for return journeys on the day, depending on the types of ticket I buy, however you can basically return whenever you like. The catamaran leaves at 47 minutes past each hour.
nNumber and Numbers
nIn case of emergency my mobile number is 07817266185.
nI will also need to know how many tickets to purchase. Therefore please let me know if you are running but are not on this list or vice versa. Also please let me know if you are running but will be making your own travel arrangements and will therefore not require a ticket (David Walker & Mark Wilson for a start). The race is obviously full but I understand that transfers are open until Wed 31st January.
