Further info regarding RR10 tomorrow
Tomorrow is the first race of the season, please find further info below from the organisers, also on www.rr10.org.uk.
nRACE 1 - 18TH APRIL - 7.00PM - ROYAL VICTORIA COUNTRY PARK
nItchen Spitfires Running Club and Southampton Athletic Club are looking forward to welcoming you to the first event of the new RR10 season, which takes place on 18th April 2018 at Royal Victoria Country Park, Netley, SO31 5GA.
nThe route is essentially the same as last year, but due to the continuing building works, the start will be on the road on the south side of the field towards the water. The route is approximately 4.6miles in total, consisting of two complete laps, with a third, short loop to finish.
nThe race will start at 7pm PROMPTLY, so please arrive in good time to facilitate this, as we will lose the light if we start the race any later. Usual race rules apply.
nThe terrain consists of a combination of tarmac paths / roads, gravel tracks and woodland trails, so you can expect the usual hazards of roots, uneven trails and low hanging branches. Most hazards will be suitably identified and marshalled, but please be careful whilst running the course. Due to the wet spring we have had, the course is very wet, so some last minute adjustments may have to be made to the route, but the forecast is good for next week, so we should be OK.
nThere is free parking at the event for runners, spectators and helpers, but we do ask that you car share and arrive in good time to prevent congestion. Upon arrival at the park, a marshal will direct you up the LEFT hand road to the free parking location, which is a five minute walk from the start / end location. Please note, that free parking is ONLY available in the designated marshalled area - the public park car parks may incur the usual charges.
nAt the RR10 AGM, our environmental impact was discussed, and it was agreed that we should try to limit the number of plastic cups we use post-race. With this in mind, while we will be supplying water at the end of the race, we would encourage you to bring your own drink or reusable cup to each race.
nGood luck to every one for the race series. Jon Ward, Southampton Athletic Club
