Race 5, RR10, Fleming Park, Eastleigh at 7.30pm
Please find below information received from the organisers. Hope to see you there.
nHalterworth Harriers and Solent Running Sisters are hosting the 5th RR10 of the 2018 series. The event will take place on Wednesday 6th June at Fleming Park, Eastleigh, SO50 9NL. The race will start promptly at 7.30pm.
nThe race meeting point, start and finish lines will be close to the paddling pool at the back end of Fleming Park, near to Pavilion in the Park.
nHere is a link to the course route. It is a 4.5 mile route which includes two laps of the old golf course. https://gb.mapometer.com/running/route_4547363.html
nPARKING: Unfortunately the overflow car park we used last year is now a construction site and therefore not available. There is quite a lot of on street parking nearby. Please park considerately. The Swan Centre Car Park is free after 6pm and is about a 20 minute walk from the race venue. Please do not park in the main Leisure Centre car park or in the Pavilion in the Park car park.
nSAFETY: The course is mostly on grassy track which does have some rabbit holes and deep divots. There are low over hanging branches and tree roots, which will be highlighted with tape or by marshals. At the top end of the course, a short, steep, downward tarmac slope with loose gravel and metal motor cycle barriers is particularly hazardous and needs negotiated with caution. There are a couple of very narrow pinch points on the route please be patient through these sections and remain courteous to other runners In order to squeeze enough miles into a small area, the course has a lot of tight turns and a busy junction where, after the second loop, the route divides, please pay attention to the route markings and marshal instructions. The park is popular with dog walkers, cyclists and young people so please be mindful of this whilst running. Do not run on the gravel cycleway, unless directed to do so by the marshals.
nTOILETS: There are a few toilets available on the outside of the Blackbird cafe, part of the Pavilion in the Park building.
nWATER: There will be water available at the end of the race however, an effort to reduce our environmental impact, it would be good if you could bring your own drink or reusable cup.
nLooking forward to cheering you all on. Best Regards Sue Leith(SRS), Dave Arnotts(HH) and Paul Garland(HH)
