Harestock Handicap Results - July 2018

Holiday season and warm weather meant that numbers were a bit down for the July handicap but we were pleased to welcome 13 runners including Sarah Shedden who was making her first appearance of 2018.
nSteve is still away so Adrian Haughton stepped up to lead the session and be our race director for the evening, thank-you Adrian.
nIn something of a handicapping triumph 11 of the 13 runners finished in the sweetspot that is the blanket finish and we had times reported down to tenths of a second as the dead heats were contested down to the wire. Our winner on the night was Sarah Shedden bringing to the handicap her fine recent racing form with Steve Goodwin and Paul Mayton tucked in behind and bringing home the rest of the pack.
nFastest on the night was Andy Parkinson with a fine 6'25 and overall we had 4 runners under 7min. Second fastest was Susy Perry in 6'51. Other notable times included Adrian Haughton with 6'53 and our winner Sarah Shedden whose time of 6'58 makes her the 6th lady to make it onto the honours board and puts her there as 75th overall and 4th fastest lady of all time!

nAs regards the overall standings there's been a bit of a shift because Matt Lavers was again a no-show and our only remaining ever-present for 2018, Adrian Haughton, has reached top of the standings. It is however only a slender lead on countback ahead of Matt Lavers with Liz Marshall and Karen Hazlitt leading the posse of other contenders. With more holidays, 5 more races and still 2 discards to be taken into account this is shaping up to be a close one. As ever the key to success is to get out there and contest the handicap whenever you can.
nThe August Handicap will be on the first Thursday of August....2nd August, meet at the track 18.45 for 19.00. Newbies (and Oldies) all welcome. Steve will be back so the party's over.
