WADAC Athletes @ BMAF T&F Champs

WADAC is proud to report medal wins at the BMAF T&F championships held at Alexander stadium, Birmingham over the weekend of 25 & 26 August.
nWeatherwise it was very much a game of two halves with Saturday fine and sunny and Sunday rather colder and much, much wetter.....real end of season stuff and particularly challenging for the jumps and throws.
nWADAC participation was down a bit on previous years as fixture congestion and injuries kept some of our regulars away. As luck and the event schedule would have it most of the WADAC athletes were competing on the Sunday but we all had access to the splendid indoor high performance facilities at the Alexander stadium so things could have been worse. It was certainly less pleasant for all the officials who had to be out there facing the elements and those supporters sitting in the stands - our thanks to you all.
nCongratulations to our medallists : Kathy Bailey (gold in the 5,000m) and Heather Mballa (silver in the javelin and bronze in the discus).
nSpecial mention for Henry Hopkins - 2nd claim WADAC and silver medallist in the Long Jump on the Saturday.
nNamechecks too for Andy Gannaway (800m) and Steve Oliver (5,000m) for keeping our Black and Gold colours in the mix at a National Championships.
nNext up it is the World Championships in Malaga in mid September.....it's GB vests for that one!
