CC6 results from Whiteley

The 7th October was always going to be a challenge for us in the Whiteley edition of the CC6 races, with many club runners committed to Clarendon, the Wessex cross country fixture at Poole and a Salisbury half too, among others. However 12 club runners attended a beautifully sunny woodland course. The previous day's rain made the circuit a challenging one with several competitors slipping and sliding. Despite all this the women's team came second, only pipped by a single point by Lordshill and the men came 7th.
nExcellent performances by Tamsin Moran 4th (after a long absence), Penny Freeman's debut at 5th and Emma Carter 8th (who had to dash off for a Clarendon commitment) this ensured a good women's team result, with strength in depth from Charlotte Hoskins 10th and another newcomer Carrie Power 46th. The men's team consisted of Julian Mann 11th, newcomers Jono Brown 20th and Neil Brown 31st and skipper Stephen Lowy 52nd. Good support from Colin McManus 60th and Andrew Robinson 61st, while Martyn West unfortunately did not finish but stayed on to look after us as we crossed the finish.
nNext race is on the 25th November in the New Forest at Dibden.
