Harestock Handicap Results - October 2018
18 runners contested the October Handicap including 3 welcome newbies in Melissa Callister, Emma Wyatt-Haynes and Ian O'Dell. October is the first of the truly dark nights and it can be a challenge to find your footing and maintain your handicap but 8 runners managed to meet or beat their handicap and 12 runners crossed the line in the sweetspot of the blanket finish. Happy days for the handicapper.
nOur winner on the night was Lee Hayes, leading home a little cluster with Steve Oliver, Matt Lavers and Rob Weekes all close behind in 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively.
nFastest on the night was Lee Hates with a new PB time of 6'35 which puts him up to 37th on the honours board. Rob Weekes was second fastest, also with a new PB, and his 6'46 puts him up to No.53 on the board. Rob Bryan and Steve Oliver both posted 6'51 so in total we had 4 runners at or below the 7min mark.
nThe September results are here :
nAs regards the overall standings we are 10 races (and 3 discards) into the campaign but it is still very close at the top of the overall standings. Matt Lavers fine 3rd place in the October race sees him back on top of the pile, Adrian Haughton maintains his position as our only "100% attendance" athlete for 2018 but remains in second and Steve Goodwin has sneaked up into third. Overall however it has all squeezed up a bit at the top and at least 6 athletes are still in the mix....its going down to the wire again.
nAs ever the key to success is to get out there and contest the handicap whenever you can....you've got to be in it to win it and it's amazing how that random 10th place when you nearly didn't bother can make the difference.
nThe November Handicap will be, as ever, on the first Thursday of the month...the 1st.
nMeet at the track 18.45 for 19.00. Newbies (and Oldies) all welcome we can make up suitable handicaps on the night.
