WADAC Medal Success at the SEAA Road Relays

WADAC enjoyed a successful visit to Crystal Palace for the SEAA Road Relays with some fantastic running, particularly from the ladies teams.
nOur Snr Women A Team were prominent at the front, running as high as 2nd before finishing an excellent 10th overall in a very competitive field of 53 snr teams. Great to have Annabel Gummow running in black and gold for the first time. Our fastest on the day was Lorna Russell with 16'43 on our first leg and setting the 6th best time of the whole day.
nOur Veteran ladies smashed the competition coming in first in the Vets category, open to ladies aged 40 and above....many of them therefore 10 or more years younger than our girls! Our fastest on the day was Lucy Elliott with 18'09 on the first leg, the 2nd fastest Vet overall.
nOur Snr Women B team was regrettably incomplete but showed great determination to run well in mid-pack with Grace Mann in her first senior race putting in a fantastic first leg of 18'43 and Lauren Nygen running strongly on her debut in WADAC colours.
nThe Snr men's team was a blend of youth and experience with Andrew White, Ben Healey and Ben Ringrose-Voase making their snr team debuts and a couple of Vets dropping down the years. The first leg is pretty special with some 130 teams (snr and vets teams start together) all putting their best feet forward. The standard is very high and we were up against some very fine runners from all over the South of England so in the end happy to finish 66th. Our fastest on the day, over the longer men's course, was Calum Upton with 20'08 and Wayne Bevan deserves mention for his fine 20'50, easily our fastest Vet on the day.
nOur Vet men's team was also a blend of youth and experience as some dropped down age categories to compete in the V40 class...a bit of an ask in this company but we finished in a creditable 22nd place. The full results can be seen here : http://seaa.org.uk/index.php/r...
