Hampshire Cross Country League Dibden 2019
The final Hampshire Cross Country League match was ran at the recently rearranged venue of Dibden Inclosure in the New Forest.
nWinchester & District Athletic Club (WADAC) athletes travelled to the match with some league titles sown up but hoping for more individual and team successes.

nWADAC’s complete dominance of the Under 13 boys category this season was shown at this meeting with James Lewis keeping up his 100% winning record with a routine victory to confirm the League individual title. WADAC won the Under 13 team title even though they finished 2nd to a resurgent Southampton team on this occasion, previous results allowed WADAC to take the overall title. Ben Chesterfield was 7th and Michael Shingleton–Smith 8th to complete the scoring team. This gave Michael 5TH and Ben 6th in the individual aggregate. There was another good WADC turnout in this age group with consistent Stan Parkinson 12th, Tom Grote 17th Charlie Cox 20th, Toby Pace 22ND, Alex Nicholson 24th Leo Smith 34th, Oscar Holloway 40th, Ieuan Thomas 44th.

nThe WADAC Under 15 girls team also won their team title in style with another team victory with splendid team packing. Rose Chesterfield was 3rd on the day and this gave her 2nd place in the individual aggregate. Lily Neate had a storming run to achieve 4th place only 4 seconds behind Rose and along with Millie Burgess 5th continuing her improvement WADAC were unbeatable.. Amelia Moore had a solid run in 6th and didn’t even make the scoring team but her consistency over the season gave her 3rd individual overall. Hannah Foster was 12th, Ellie McErlean 26yh and Katie Nicholson 43rd. Millie was rewarded with 5th on the individual aggregate and Hannah 6th.

nIsabella Beck took advantage of team-mate Aisling Dunne’s absence to place 3rd on the day in an exciting finish only 2 seconds behind the winner. Her performance gave Isabella 2nd position in the individual standings for the season.

nIn the Senior/Vet/ U20 womens race WADAC’S first runner was Imogen Emmett in a very handy 11th position, next home was V45 Lucy Elliott in a solid 14th which gave her 3rd Vet on the day. The scoring team was completed by Grace Mann in 18th which was good enough for 5th U20.WADAC ladies were 3rd team at Dibden which gave them an excellent 2nd team place for the season. The WADAC vets team won 4 out of 5 of their races this season to easily take the overall team title. At Dibden supporting Lucy were Natalie Cain 21st (5th vet) and Charlotte Hoskins 29th (9th vet). In the individual womens aggregate Grace finished a fabulous 7th position with Imogen 8th overall, Grace was also 5th in the U20 category. For the Vets women Natalie Cain was 5th and Charlotte Hoskins 7th. The rest of the WADAC contingent were Poppy Clements 33rd Gabbie Spelman 43rd, Jo Jefferies 45th Ashia Fenwick 53rd, Alison Fenwick62nd Madeline Vosser 103rd.

nDoug Scally was first home for WADAC in the Under 15 boys race, followed in by Dominic Exworthy 12th and Sam Roberts 19th to complete the scoring team. This kept WADAC 2nd overall in the team standings. Other U15B were Harry Harvey 30th, Connor Dutton 39th and Ben Schofield 42nd.

nAisling Hitchman had a brilliant run to lead home the WADAC Under 13 girls in 11th place. Emma Shedden was next in 16th with Lara Bassett 21st just out-striding Jemima Hodges 22nd for the final scoring place. As usual there was good number of WADAC presence in this age group with Zara Barker 27th, Phoebe McGee 34th Safiya Hussain 35th Lauren McGee 43rd, Emily Staggs 49th and Izzy Stout 60th. The team were both 5th on the day and overall.

nJames Espie had an inspired run in the Senior/Vets mens race to come home in 6th position in a field of 200 runners. WADAC next runner home was Richard Bidgood 43rd and was first vet for WADAC closely followed home by the improving Alex Whiting in 46th . Next home was ultra man Stephen Moore in 93rd with the scoring team competed by Robert Carter 102nd. Just missing out of scoring was club coach Dave Vosser in 104th. WADAC senior team was 6th on the day and 7th overall. The Vets team were a fine 2nd place in the team aggregate. Despite not running in the last match Julian Mann was 6th in the Vets individual rankings.

nIn the Under 11 boys race Will Hasan ran magnificently to win by just 2 seconds in front of the runner up, Ruben Price was 4th, Sam Nicholson 6th , Caspar Wilson 8th Ethan Skipwith 10th and Joe Hasan 11th. In the Under 11 girls race Scarlett Anderson was best placed in 9th followed closely in by Poppy Taylor 11th and Hannah Lowe 12th.
