Hampshire vests for WADAC athletes
Winchester & District Athletic Club (WADAC) cross country athletes were selected for the Hampshire county teams for both the Inter Counties Championships at Prestwold Hall Loughborough and also the English Schools Championships in Leeds.
nThe Inter Counties were held in sunny but windy conditions on a testing undulating course. In the Senior mens 10km race WADAC’s sol representative was the consistent George King who place 50th out of 293 finishers. Hampshire won bronze medals in the team event.

nThere were two WADAC runners in the Under 15 boys 4k race, Sam Roberts was 145th with slightly under par Doug Scally coming home in 203rd out of the 313 who completed the race. Hampshire were 4th in the team event, a position which Hampshire found themselves in a lot of the Inter county races.

nWADAC,s own Under 13 boy wonder James Lewis ran a superb race to finish 5th in a field of 300 with team-mate Ben Chesterfield also having a good run in 79th with Hampshire of course placing 4th team.

nInternational Louise Damen ran in one of her rare cross country races achieving 60th overall in a field of 270 runners with Imogen Emmett having a very sold run in 121st. Hampshire were, you guessed it, 4th team.
nWADAC had two runners in the Under 20 womens 6k race with Grace Mann 58th and Gabrielle Spelman showing some good form in 110th, Hampshire again 4th.

nOver the 5k under 17 womens race Isabella Beck was best placed WADAC runner in 56th with Alice Calder 87th and Aisling Dunne 95th.

nBen’s sister Rose Chesterfield had a good run in 54th in the Under 15 Girls race with Amelia Moore very close behind her in 58th. WADAC also had Lily Neate 101st and Hannah Foster 148th, with Hampshire this time 7th team.

nThe English Schools Championships at Temple Newsam Leeds were held in wet cool conditions a hilly course. In the Junior Girls race Rose Chesterfield again running well was 40th with Amelia Moore next WADAC home in 136th plus Millie Burgess 184th, with the Hampshire Junior Girls in 8thplace.

nDoug Scally had a much improved run from his Inter County performance in 132nd in the Intermediate Boys race with Sam Roberts 231st, Hampshire team were 11th.

nWADAC had good representation in the Intermediate Girls race with Isabella Beck again first WADAC girl home in 61st. To show how close the field was Isabella time was 14.32 and Aisling Dunne although only six seconds behind her in 14.48 was 82nd, 21 places behind Isabella. Also competing the IG race was Hannah Foster 181st and Lily Neate 226th.

nThere were two WADAC runners in the Senior Girls race with Alice Calder 67th and Grace Mann 73rd. Hampshire were a very good 5th position in the team event.
