Harestock Handicap Results - March 2019

25 runners contested the incident-filled March Handicap including 2 very welcome event newbies in Adam Mallord and Simon Allen. Despite some navigational mishaps, the odd wheelie bin incident and associated fits of giggles we still managed to have 10 runners meeting or beating their handicap and 16 runners crossing the line in the thrilling sweetspot that is the blanket finish.
nOur winner on the night was Adrian Haughton enjoying the swings and roundabouts of marathon training.....tired old legs last month, springy heeled youngster this month...not easy for the handicapper. Second was Lutz Preuss rejoicing in his best ever finish to a handicap race and third was the evergreen Jonathan Kane, beating his handicap yet again.
nFastest on the night was Dave Gaskell with 6'49, 2nd fastest was Rob Weekes in 6'59 and 3rd was Neil Brown with 7'01 - good times but all a bit off their PB's so no movement on the honours board.
nAs regards the overall standings it is still very early days but our current leader is Stephen Hockney just shading it ahead of Lynn McKeague, Dan Carter and Dave Gaskell. Just as important at this stage is that there are now only 11 people in the whole world who still have a chance of winning a coveted "12 out of 12" medal.
nThe April 2019 Handicap will be, as ever, on the first Thursday of the month...the 4th April 2019. With a bit of luck we might have some daylight allowing a better run-up for the wheelie bin hurdling challenge and hopefully therefore some fast times.
nMeet at the track 18.45 for 19.00. All welcome we can make up suitable handicaps for newbies on the night.
