nRR10 – Stoney Cross – 7PM 1st May 2019
nFinal Race Instructions
n
nTotton Running Club is looking forward to welcoming you to the second event of the new RR10
nseason at Stoney Cross which takes place on Wednesday 1 May 2019. The race will start promptly at
n7PM prompt. Please arrive in good time to allow us to start on time - Usual race rules apply.
n
nDrop out clubs for this event are Eastleigh, Lordshill and Romsey.
n
nCourse Route
n
nThe route is the same as last year and is approximately 4.7miles in total over gravel track, forest
npaths, concrete and a grass area at the finish. You can expect the usual hazards but these will be
nsuitably identified and marshalled, but please be careful whilst running the course. The course is not
nsuitable for spikes
n
n
nFacilities
n
nThere are no toilet facilities available at the race venue.
n
nThis season the RR10 league has taken the decision not to provide plastic cups at the finish of any
nraces and Totton Running Club fully support this change. There will be no cups available so please
neither bring your own bottled water or cup. There will be water available to all runners from large
nwater containers. We may have cakes though!
n
nPlease make sure that you take all your litter home with you as there are no bins in the area
n
nDirections
n
nLeave M27 at junction 1 and at roundabout take B3079 to Brook and then fork left onto B3078. Turn
nnext left (after golf course) and follow for about 1 mile to where you will see our parking marshals.
n
nFrom A31 (access only available heading eastbound towards Southampton) exit at turning
nsignposted Stoney Cross – You will see our marshals after about 1 mile.
n
nParking Instructions
n
nOver the last two years we had major problems with late arriving runners parking on verges and the
nForestry Commission have asked us to ensure that this does not happen this year. Car parking in the
nNew Forest for events like this is a major concern for the Forestry Commission and we need your
nhelp and support to ensure the future of events like this.
n
nParking is very limited so please CAR SHARE WHEREVER POSSIBLE
n
nWe will be asking cars coming from the A31 to park in the Stoney Cross Plain/Stoney Cross car parks
n(see blue arrows) and cars coming from the Forest side to park in the Janesmoor Pond car parks (see
nyelow arrows). All parking areas are within a 6/8 minute walk (or a short warm up run) from the
nstart/finish areas. The start/finish area is indicated by the green arrow.
n
nPlease ensure that you follow the directions of our parking marshals at all times and park as
ninstructed.
n
nWe may take pictures of any vehicles/runners abandoning cars on the verges and supply these to
ntheir running clubs as we do not want to put the future of this race into question.
n
nWe are hoping that the having 3 major clubs as the drop out clubs for this event will assist with the
nparking concerns.
