Wessex League Track & Field Match 1 Winchester
nThe opening match of the Wessex Track and Field Young Athletes League took place at the Bar End Track Winchester and home club Winchester & District Athletic Club (WADAC) faced opposition from New Forest Juniors, Bournemouth Athletic Club, Newbury Athletic Club, Camberley Athletic Club and Isle of Wight Athletic Club.
nWADAC ended up very convincing winners of both the main match which included the Under 13, 15 and 17 age groups plus the Quad Kids match which is for Under 11 athletes. In fact the winning points total in the main match was the best ever achieved by WADAC in any Wessex League event.

nUnder 13 Girls Grace Weeks was one of the stars of the competition with a superb win in the 70m hurdles A race in a Grade 1 performance of 11.7 to smash her PB and be currently ranked 3rd in the UK for 2019 . Grace did not stop with the just the hurdles and she also won the 100m A race in 14.10 and the 200m A race in 28.70 both best times for her and also ran a leg of the 4x100 relay along with Alice Clegg, Safiya Husain and Isabelle Steel with the team coming home 2nd.

nThere was a double win in both the U13G Shot and Discus by way of Erin McBriar winning both A strings (6.94m & 19.05m) and Lauren Richards victorious in both B strings (6.29m & 13.95m). Erin also won the B string Javelin with a throw of 12.48m with Tula Nandy 2nd A with 13.09m. Isabel Ord high jumped 1.33m to win the U13G event with Amy Porter 2nd B 1.10m.

nOn the track there was another WADAC double win in the 800m with Safiya Husain 2.37.9 and Elreza Mulder 2.41.3 completely dominating the race. The same thing happened in the 1200m with Zara Barker leading from gun to tape to win in 4.24 with Lauren Richards wrapping up the B string in 4.47. There were 2nd places for Alice Clegg 100m B 14.10, Isabelle Steel 200m B 31.4 and Amy Porter 70m hurdles B 14.40.

nJames Lewis impressively won the Under 13 boys 1500m in 4.44.9 in a Grade 1 performance which ranks in the top 5 in the UK currently in his age group. He was backed up by Stan Parkinson in the B string in 5.02 2nd. Will Hasan 2.36 and Reuben Hobbs put together a double win the 800m both running very well. In the sprints Timon Francis made an impressive debut winning the 200m B race in 29.20 and also Musa Sanyang had a successful day with a win in the U13B 100m B race in 14.5 plus another 1st place in the 75m hurdles race in 15.7 and also 3rd B in 200m in 29.7.

nIn the field Timon Francis also leapt to a fine Long Jump of 4.19m to finish 2nd A with Oscar Webb 2nd B with 3.77m, Oscar also won the High Jump with a jump of 1.40m. The U13B throws gained WADAC some good points with Andrew White taking the shot event with a throw of 6.20m along with Ethan Imhofe winning the B string with 5.62m. Andrew achieved a G4 performance in the Javelin with a good throw of 23.58m for 2nd A , Boaz Lurcock won the B event with 15.48m. More points were won the Discus with Rocco Quayle 2nd A 12.58m and Sam Nicholson 1st B 11.50m.

nThe joint winners of the WADAC Under 15 girls T&F award Olivia Busher and Rose Chesterfield both delivered winning performances as usual. Olivia easily won the Javelin with 33.66m with a G1 performance and was also 2nd in the Discus 21.25m. Rose won the 1500m in 4.59.6 (G3) with team-mate Ellie McErlean winning the B string in 5.14.3. Martha Harris won the Javelin B string with a throw of 21.55m plus 3rd A High Jump 1.25m supported by Ava Duke 1.20m 2nd B. Rania Ali on her debut for WADAC won the Discus B 18.72m and was 2nd A Shot 6.68m. Jasmine Jones won some good points in the U15G section by 2nd places in the Shot 2nd A 7.25m and 2nd B 300m 48.4.

nOn the track Alice Eyssens sprinted to 2nd B 100m in the 14.10 and also was 1ST B 75m hurdles 13.00. Emma Shedden set a PB in the 200m B 27.80 for 2nd and Evie Beck achieved two PB’s in the 200m 281.10 and 300m 45.50 3rd A. The quartet of Daisy Shaw, Alice Eyssens Emma Shedden and Beth Thorpe were 2nd in the 4x100m relay in 55.0. Other U15G performers were Beth Thorpe 2nd A 75m hurdles 12.7 : Aisling Hitchman 800m 3rd A 2.30.4 : Lara Bassett 2nd B 800m 2.39.8.

nFinlay Wrey-Brown impressed once again in the Under 15 boys Discus and Javelin winning both with throws of 26.46m and 31.80m, he was backed up by Charlie Elford-Pond in the Discus 1ST B 23.68m who also ran the 300m in 45.3 for 2nd. In the Jumps Ruben Burrows and Oscar Hoult gained valuable points with Ruben 1st A High Jump 1.50m and 2nd A Long Jump 4.81m with Oscar 1st B HJ 1.40m and 2ND LJ 4.00m.

nIn the middle distance U15B races WADAC dominated both the 800m and 1500m with Ollie Withers winning the 800m A in 2.21.7 with Charlie Kyle 2nd B 2.29.6 , in the 1500m Harry Harvey was 2nd A 4.57.4 and Ben Chesterfield winning B in 4.59.2.

nJames Osbourne ran a G4 performance of 12.5 in the 100m A race for 2nd position plus Edward Bruce ran another G4 in the 200m B race in 25.3 also for 2nd. Both James and Edward along with Luke Rodgers and Ollie Withers produced a winning run in the 4x100 relay in a speedy 52.5.
nIsabella Beck and Aisling Dunne easily did the double in the Under 17 women 1500m in times of 4.56.3 and 5.02.7 with Isabella also running the 300m in 45.0 2nd A. The U17W sprints were very high class with a League record being broken in the 100m by Bournemouth athlete. Lucy Spurrier was 3rd in the 100m in 13.9 with Grace Griffiths 2nd B 13.5, with Grace also leaping 4.44m for 3rd A in the Long Jump. Alice Claisse ran 29.4 for 3rd B 200m plus throwing the Discus 14.54m for 2nd B. The team of Lucy, Alice, Grace and Sophie Torrance were 3rd in the 4x100 relay in 57.3. Sophie also was 2nd in the Shot B 6.90m plus gaining points in the 300m and Javelin.
nRebecca Mitchell won the High Jump of 1.30m plus points in the Shot and 800m. Tamsin Hoult contributed in the Discus , Javelin and 800m.

nThe leading performer in the Under 17 Mens section was Alex Miles who comfortably won the Shot 11.05m (G4) and Discus 26.06m and was a close 2nd in the Javelin with 38.47m.

nIwan Wrey-Brown had good runs in the 200m 2nd A 24.9 and 400m 2nd A 57.1 with Lex Sinker 1st B 400m in 58.6. Jonathan Adisi-Takyi had a 3rd position in the 100m 12.3 as well as being in the winning 4x100 team along with Iwan, Lex and Luc Pearce. Theo Roberts looked good in winning the 800m in 2.09.4 with James Medley finishing 2nd in the 1500m in 4.31.3

nIn the Quad Kids in the Girls event WADAC had four top ten positions with Poppy Taylor best placed in 2nd including the 3rd fastest 600m in 2.00.7. Lucia Bertacchini was 5th overall and had the 2nd fastest 75m run with a fast 11.3. Also Bethan Bewick was 6th and Isabella Hastie was 9th. In the QK Boys section Ethan Skipwith was 3rd and had an excellent Long Jump 0f 4.07m. Bradley Lewis was 5th Mackenzie Paterson 6th and Felix Bowyer 8th.
