YDL Lower Matches 1 & 2

Winchester & District Athletic Club (WADAC) have started the Youth Development Track & Field League (for Lower age groups) in storming fashion with two wins in the opening two fixtures in Division South West 2.
nThe first match took place at the Mountbatten Centre Portsmouth in very windy conditions with WADAC completely dominating the match winning with 682 points with second place Chichester having 435 points.

nNew WADAC athlete Charlie Elford-Pond had a really good day winning the Under 15 boys 300m in 45.6, he also threw the Discus 24.99m to win the B event. Alexander Beck supported Charlie by winning the 300m B race in 47.2. Dan Kimber powered his way to first in the 80m hurdles in 12.6 with Sam Mballa 1st B in 16.4 , Sam also won the B Javelin with 23.75m. The A Javelin was won by Finlay Wrey-Brown with a Grade 4 throw of 34.10m. Ruben Burrows impressed in the High Jump with a height of 1.63m with Oscar Hoult jumping 1.45m for 1st B. WADAC U15B teams won both the 4x100 and 4x300m relays.

nRose Chesterfield eased her way to a fine win in the Under 15 girls 1500m in a G4 performance of 5.10.1 with Amelia Moore 2nd overall in 5.18.8 for first B. Natasha Mitchell and Jasmine Jones with throws of 7.02m and 6.43 gained maximum points in the Shot.

nOlivia Busher produced her usual first class performances with wins in the U15G Discus (23.13m) and Javelin (33.78) with the latter a fine G1 standard. Ellie McErlean, Rose Chesterfield, Jess Marinus and Amelia Moore won the 4x300m relay in 3.21.0.

nTimon Francis had a double win in the 100m and 200m U13B B races plus 2nd in the Long Jump A. Oscar Webb achieved a fine double win the 75m hurdles 12.8 and a G1 High Jump of 1.56m. Stan Parkinson ran strongly to win the 1500m in 5.17.8 backed up by Jack Moores 1st B in 5.29.3. Other maximum U13B points were picked up by Philip Cain Ling Jump B 4.22m and Andrew White Javelin A 26.76m.

nErin McBriar had a terrific double win in the U13G category with a 75m hurdles victory in 13.8 and Shot 7.22m. Maximum points were won by Scarlett Anderson 1200m B 4.41.1 and Safiya Husain 800m B 2.47.8. The quartet of Isabelle Steel, Betti Smith, Emma Guest and Elisa De Liberali ran well for 2nd in the 4x100 relay in 61.8.

nIn match 2 at Winchester WADAC continued their dominance with a comfortable win to lead the division after two matches.

n Ollie Withers 2.10.2 and Sam Evans 2.14.2 gained full points in the U15B 800m event. Dan Kimber and Sam Mballa just as in match 1 won both the 80m hurdles races in fine style. In the throws Finlay Wrey-Brown again won the Javelin 31.35m and Charlie Elford-Pond was winner of the Hammer B with 18.74m.

nEvie Beck and Emma Shedden both ran 44.10 in the U15G 300m for 1st A and 2nd B. Emma also backed up Beth Thorpe in the 75m hurdles for a double win. Rose Chesterfield once more won the 1500m showing her class in 4.54.0. Alice Eyssens had good day in the field with wins in the High Jump 1.35m and Shot 6.24m B events. Olivia Busher again easily won the U15G Javelin 34.58m and Discus 22.96m as in Match 1. Jess Marinus supplied her good support winning both B events with 24.11m and 16.93m. Emma Shedden, Beth Thorpe Evie Beck and Rose Chesterfield won the 4x300m relay in a very fast time of 3.03.4.

nJames Lewis ran a superb G1 time of 4.40.9 to win the U13B 1500m with Stan Parkinson running a PB of 4.55.9 for 1st B. Oscar Webb repeated his 75m hurdles and High Jump double win with Musa Sanyang 1st B 75m hurdles 15.5 and Sam Nicholson 1st B in 1.20m. Ruben Price got full points in the 800m B 2.32.1.

nGrace Weeks completely dominated the U13G 70m hurdles winning in 12.00 with Amy Porter first B in 13.8 with Amy also won the B High Jump with 1.20m in an event won by Isabel Ord with a fantastic G1 performance of 1.42m. Betti Smith ran very well to win the U13G 75m race in 10.5. Erin McBriar again won the shot with a throw of 7.70m. Tula Nandy 16.50m and Kirsten Hazelwood 12.24m had a good double win on the Javelin. Other maximum points were gained by Elreza Mulder 800m B 2.39.6 and Maisie Curtis 1200m B 4.52.3.

nThe third match of the season is at Winchester again in late June.
