Hampshire Track & Field Championships
nThe annual Hampshire Track and Field Championships took place at their usual venue of Mountbatten Centre Portsmouth over two days in sunny mild conditions. Winchester & District Athletic Club (WADAC) athletes went in strength in search of medals and certainly delivered.

nDay 1

nGrace Weeks has improved amazingly this year at the Under 13 girls 70m hurdles this year as well her 100m/200m form. Grace cruised through her hurdles heat and totally dominated in the final to win in 11.73 a time which puts her in the top 12 in the UK in her age group. Grace also reached the 100m final where she placed 8th in 14.67 a final where Betti Smith had a fine run to place 4th in 14.04. Amy Porter made the final of the hurdles where she was 6th.
nOscar Webb left it to the very last jump of the competition to win the Under 13 boys Long jump with a leap of 4.93m for a superb PB jump. Ben Bewick was 7th and Timon Francis 8th in the U13B Long Jump.

nLily Neate has blossomed this season and this was exemplified with her victory on the Under 17 womens 1500m in a PB of 4.46, also medalling was Isabella Beck in 3rd also with a PB of 4.48.

nDan Thomas won the Under 20 men 200m event in 23.10, in a race that saw the unfortunate disqualification of first over the line Kanya Mtshweni. Charlie Brown won the U20M 400m hurdles in a time of 59.51 to take the gold medal.

nIn the U13G High Jump Isabel Ord won a well deserved silver medal with a jump of 1.35m and in the same age group Erin McBriar threw the Shot 7.76m also for 2nd position. Whilst Kirsten Hazelwood in her first ever Championships won silver in the U13G Javelin with 13.20m.

nThe High Jump provided two more silver medals of WADAC athletes with Emily Smith 1.55m U17W and Jess Gordon 1.65m U20W.

nIn the throws the Discus event saw Finlay Wrey-Brown throw the implement 29.13m in the U15B event for 2nd place with team mates Charlie Elford-Pond 3rd 28.59m and Sam Mballa 5th. The U13B Discus competition gave Sam Nicholson 2nd with 14.22m. Alex Miles launched the U17M Javelin 48.48m for a 3rd place finish.

nRose Chesterfield ran very well in the U15G 1500m race to finish 3rd in 4.54,6, a final which also saw Amelia Moore 6th 5.02 and Ellie McErlean 8th 5.07.

nOllie Withers decimated his PB in the U15B 800m to achieve 3rd position in 2.08.7.

nHarry Pizzey leapt to 5.92m in the U20M Long Jump to gain a bronze medal. Rebecca Mitchell threw the U17W Shot 7.97m for 3rd.

nOscar Webb saved his best for Sunday where he achieved an outstanding High Jump performance of 1.53m which is a Championship Best Performance. Oscar also won the 75 metres hurdles in 12.99 to end up with 3 gold medals for the weekend, a fantastic performance.

nJames Lewis won the U13B 1500m comfortably in 4.43.9 with just outside the medals Stan Parkinson 4th in 4.55.

nThere was a spate of gold medals for WADAC Under 15 boys with Dan Kimber powering his way to a win in the 80m hurdles in 12.8. Ruben Burrows impressed in the High Jump with a leap of 1.55m. Sam Mballa negotiated the technical Triple Jump to win with 9.75m. Finlay Wrey-Brown propelled the Hammer 23.57m for victory and Sello Mtshweni pole vaulted 1.80m to win. Edward Bruce ran very well for 3rd in the U15B 100m and Charlie Elford-Pond threw the U15B Shot 8.95m for a well deserved 2nd place.
nGrace Weeks added a silver medal in the U13G 200m to add to her hurdles win the day before. The ever improving Erin McBriar took the gold medal in the U13G Discus with 24.46m. There were final appearances for Alice Clegg 6th 200m 30.39 and Safiya Husain 6th 2.36.

nThe positions were reversed in the in the U17W 800m with Isabella Beck winning an exciting sprint in 2.21.6 with Lily Neate 3rd in 2.21.9. Aisling Dunne improved her PB to gain 2nd place in the 3000m. In the U17W 300m Hurdles Rebecca Mitchell was 3rd in 51.82.

nKanya Mtshweni made up for the disappointment of his previous day disqualification by winning the U20M 100m hurdles in 14.72 with Dan Thomas 2nd in 15.00. Harry Pizzey triple jumped his way to bronze with 11.68m.

nMaddie Turner had a fine U20W 400m hurdles win in 64.97 with training partner Ellie Livingstone 2nd 66.27. Maddie also sprinted her way to 3rd in the 200m in 26.81 with Ellie 5th 27.55. Alice Calder won the 3000m distance race in 10.51.4. Jess Gordon had a Long Jump distance of 4/62m which was good enough for 4th.

nMother and daughter Sally and Emily Serridge both won medals in the Javelin with Sally picking up 3rd in the Senior Women event with 24.55m and Emily 2nd U20W with 32.66m. In the Semioe women throws Heather Sheffield also excelled with solver in the Javelin 26.31m and 3rd in the Discus with 28.84m.

nSam Clifton threw brilliantly in the U17M Hammer with a winning distance of 52.47m a long way in front of 2nd place. Luc Pearce achieved 2ns position in the 1500 steeplechase in 5.36.8. Montel Gondwe ran very fast in the U17M for 3rd place in 11.48. Other good U17M performances were Alex Miles 4th Shot 10.68m and Doug Scally 5th 1500m 4.16.4.

nOlivia Busher threw the U15G Javelin a very long way with 37.93m to gain a silver medal and also placed 5th in the Discus with 22.84m. Rose Chesterfield reached the final of the U800m and was 5TH in 2.23.3.
