RR10 Race 5, Wednesday 5th June, Fleming Park, 7.30pm

The next RR10 race is this Wednesday 5th June 7.30pm at Fleming Park.
nIt is the closest race so far (the brand new one on June 12th at Hursley Park will be even closer) so we could really do with a big show of black and gold vests at these two races. Please, please, please come and run. Sun and warm temperatures are forecast. You need to be 15 or over to run so come on and have a go.
nDetails from the organisers below:
nDear All
nSolent Running Sisters and Southampton AC are hosting the 5 th RR10 of the 2019 series. The
nevent will take place on Wednesday 5 th June at Fleming Park, Eastleigh, SO50 9NL. The race will
nstart promptly at 7.30pm.
nThe race meeting point, start and finish lines will be close to the paddling pool at the back end of
nFleming Park, near to Pavilion in the Park.
nHere is a link to the course route. It is a 4.5 mile route which includes two laps of the old golf
ncourse. https://gb.mapometer.com/running/route_4547363.html
nParking
nWe have permission to use the car park at Places Leisure Centre and there is quite a lot of on
nstreet parking nearby. Please park considerately and car share where possible.
nPlease do not park in the Pavilion in the Park car park.
nSafety
nThe course is mostly on grassy track (with a few rabbit holes and divots), trail and tarmac. Not
nsuitable for spikes.
nThere are low over hanging branches and tree roots, which will be highlighted with tape or by
nmarshals.
nAt the top end of the course, a short, steep, downward tarmac slope with loose gravel and metal
nmotor cycle barriers is particularly hazardous and needs to be negotiated with caution.
nThere are a couple of very narrow pinch points on the route please be patient through these
nsections and remain courteous to other runners
nIn order to squeeze enough miles into a small area, the course has a lot of tight turns and a busy
njunction where, after the second loop, the route divides, please pay attention to the route markings
nand marshal instructions.
nThe park is popular with dog walkers, cyclists and young people so please be mindful of this whilst
nrunning. Do not run on the gravel cycleway, unless directed to do so by the marshals.
nToilets
nThe toilet block next to the Start area should be open and there are a few toilets available on the
noutside of the Blackbird cafe, part of the Pavilion in the Park building.
nWater
nThere will be water available at the end of the race however, in an effort to reduce our
nenvironmental impact, it would be good if you could bring your own drink or reusable cup.
nLooking forward to cheering you all on.
nBest Regards
nSue Leith (SRS), Jon Ward (SAC)
