Harestock Handicap Results - August 2019

On the first day of August WADAC sent to me....15 handicap runners and an 8th different winner for the year.
nSorry about that. We had 15 runners for the August Handicap including Steve Cluett making his first appearance of the year and becoming our 50th different runner this year. Mikaela Price, experimenting with a radical new approach to her warm-up, ran strongly to hold off Dave Gaskell and become our 8th different winner of the year. Adrian Field was close behind in third and Sarah Aldridge had a tremendous run to take 4th place whilst smashing her handicap by some 20secs. In all 7 runners succeeded in meeting or beating their handicap....that's half the field, happy days for the handicapper!
nFastest on the night was Dan Carter, showing great pace after a speedy summer of training and racing on the track and posting an amazing 5'56 to leap up the honours board to No.6. Dave Gaskell was second fastest in 6'19 and Rob Weekes third with 6'44 both running well and close to their best marks. Special mention for Adrian Field setting what we think is a new PB of 7'55 in what was around his 60th appearance in the Harestock Handicap.
nSpecial mention too for Paul Oxley determinedly forcing his lurgy infested body round the handicap course and maintaining his place as one of our ever-presents this year...these "12 out of 12" medals are hard won!
nAs regards the overall standings it's reshuffled again and even tighter at the top....Dave Gaskell is back in front but now leading from Steve Goodwin and Mikaela Price.
nThe Sept 2019 Handicap will be, as ever, on the first Thursday of the month...the 5th September. Meet at the track 18.45 for 19.00.
nAll welcome we can make up suitable handicaps for newbies on the night.
