Harestock Handicap Results - September 2019
We had 20 runners out to contest the September Handicap including 3 event newbies in Andy Costello, Ian Parker and Pete Townsend plus 4 others (Louise Claxton, Sarah Gurney, Anna Locke and Karen Hazlitt) making their first appearances of the year. Lots for the handicapper to wrestle with there then and yet it turned out to be one of the fastest nights of the year and a roaring success. Louise Claxton, perhaps benefitting from a rather soft "I've lost your data but welcome back" handicap, more or less led from start to finish to become our 9th different winner of the year. Louise Snook chased her all the way round to take second ahead of Steve Oliver third. It was a classic handicap race with no fewer than 16 runners meeting or beating their handicaps and 14 finishing in the lungbursting sweetspot that is the blanket finish. Fastest on the night was Dave Gaskell again improving his PB to post a time of 6'05 and move smoothly up to No.11 on the honours board. Rob Weekes also set a new PB of 6'40 to be second fastest on the night and climb to No.49 whilst Andy Costello marked a fine event debut to be third fastest at 6'56, a new entry at No.76. It was a night for fast running with good times and PB's in abundance.....special mention for Sarah Shedden back running well and pinging the 7 minute mark to be our fastest lady.Unfortunately Paul Oxley couldn't be with us so Mikaela Price is now our only remaining ever-present this year...fingers crossed for her "12 out of 12"
nAs regards the overall standings Dave Gaskell retains his place at the top of the pile but Steve Goodwin, Adrian Field and Mikaela Price are all gathering behind him.....it's always close in the end!The October 2019 Handicap will be, as ever, on the first Thursday of the month...the 3rd October - NB it will be getting dark by the time we finish so please Hi-Viz clothing and (possibly?) headtorches. Meet at the track 18.45 for 19.00.
nAll welcome we can make up suitable handicaps for newbies on the night.
