Indoor Track and field results

The indoor track & field season runs from December through to the end of March and therefore what better date for WADAC athletes to begin the season than with the 1st December open meetings taking place at Eton & Lee Valley. U20 man Daniel Thomas (coach George Ogilvie) was in action at Eton taking on the senior hurdle specifications for the first time running a best of 8.89 in his two 60m hurdle races. Daniel also ran 7.47 in the 60m sprint without the inconvience of the barriers in the way. Grace Weeks (coach Gary Bettridge) ran at the Lee Valley open with a best time of 10.25 when racing at U15 for the first time in the 60m hurdles over the 76cm specifications. Grace also ran a best of 9.19 over the flat 60m. Sister Emily (coach Gary Bettridge) competing the U17 womens age group ran the 300m in a new lifetime best of 50.17. At the same event U17 male Multi-eventer Ed Fillbrook (coach Andy Fisher) showed what an asset he would be to his new club by going under 9 seconds for the first time in the 60m hurdles and also ran the 300m and competed in the long jump. The club is keen to see more of its athletes competing indoors in track and field in regional and national championships and with this in mind reminds athletes that the South of England U13/U15 & U17 indoor champs take place on the 11th & 12th January with the U20 & Senior champs on the 1st & 2nd February. The national U15/U17 & U20 champs take place on the 22nd & 23rd February in Sheffield with the senior British championships on the same weekend in Glasgow. Any athletes interested in competing should talk to their coach and the club will offer its full support.
