British Masters Athletic Federation 5km Relay Championships

The virtual British Masters Athletic Federation 5km relay championships held from 14-20 June, proved a huge success, attracting over 4,000 runners, including 40 WADAC entrants. Being a virtual event, the trip to Sutton Park was avoided, as runners sought out a flat 5km around the Winchester District.
nThe highlight for WADAC was the team of Sarah Gurney (18:15), Sarah Shedden (18:18) and Kath Bailey (18:52) – all running inside 19 minutes to win the W45-54 race. Kath also won an individual Bronze medal in the W50 category.
n
nIn the W65-74 category, WADAC enjoyed more success taking the runners-up spot, with good performances from Joy Radford (23:36), Shirley Dyson-Laurie (25:33) and Gill Goodwin (26:53).
n
nIn some extremely competitive races, our women’s 35-44 ladies achieved a top 10 finish and our men’s 45-54 team finished in the top 20, Pete Sansome earning some bragging rights with a 17:18.
nSo a great turnout from WADAC and with £12,142.50 raised for MacMillan Nurses from the donated entry fees, a terrific event!
