The clubs athletes kept busy is this extended track & field season by heading South, East & West to compete in various open meetings over the weekend.The throwers were in field event action in Portsmouth with U15B Charlie Elford-Pond (coach Jeremy Clifton) throwing a pb of 33.90m in the discus to improve his distance in 2nd place in the all time club list but he may run out of time to overtake club record holder Andrew Mead-Briggs whose 2011 record is less than 90cm further than Charlie's latest throw. Charlie also threw 45.39m in the hammer just short of his club record. U15G Erin McBriar (coach Martin McBriar) was 4th in discus and Hammer and sister U13G Abi McBriar (coach Martin McBriar) threw a pb of 19.55m in the discus to improve her 6th place UK age group ranking with another season in the age group to go. Abi also threw 22.72m in the javelin. U15G Jess Marinus (coach Heather Sheffield) didn't have her best day with discus or javelin and U17W Liv Busher (coached out of club) was her usual consistent self again throwing over 40m with the javelin. Finally in Portsmouth U13B Sam Nicholson (coach Andy Fisher) showed his form in training in recent weeks has been no fluke by going over 30m in the javelin and became the latest WADAC athlete to hit the UK age group top 10 as he sits in 6th place in the rankings.Club stalwarts Dave Vosser (self coached) & Sue True (coach Dave Vosser) were in action in the end of season track meeting in Aldershot on Saturday recording times of 5.07.3 and 5.28.1 respectively in the 1500m. Ben Healey (coached out of club) ran 4.08.9 in the 1500m and U17M Dom Exworthy (coach Mike Chambers) had a very busy weekend running a pb of 9.31.4 in the 3000m in Aldershot on Saturday followed by a run of 4.21.28 in the 1500m in Swindon the next day.Finally in Chelmsford on Sunday U17W Olivia Jones (coach Tony Bateman) jumped a seasons best 1.46m in the Bigish HJ mini series.
