Weekend Roundup

The clubs athletes continue to make the most of the extended track and field season with the throwers once more taking the chance to shine in an open meeting in Portsmouth on Sunday. Charlie Elford Pond (coach Jeremy Clifton) was the days star performer going over 40m with the 4kg hammer to break the clubs U15 boys record with a throw of 42.17m. Charlie also threw a discus pb of 33.02m which takes him 2nd on the clubs all time U15 boys discus lists just behind Andrew Mead-Briggs. U20W Tamsin Hoult (coach Jeremry Clifton) threw 23.76m in the hammer and U20M Sam Clifton (coach Jeremy Clifton) threw 45.32m with the 6kg hammer. U20 decathlete Oliver Thatcher (coach Andy Fisher) celebrated his 18th birthday a few days earlier by putting the 6kg shot out to a new pb of 12.50m to improve his 3rd place standing on the clubs all-time lists and also threw the 1.75kg discus just over 40m on the day. Ethan Imhofe (coach Andy Fisher) is making the most of his last few weeks as an U13B by improving his pb in the javelin to 23.66m and also shot putted 7.70m on the day. U15G Claudia Hargreaves (coach Andy Fisher) made her debut for the club with pb perfermances in shot and javelin and U17 man Ed Fillbrook (coach Andy Fisher) also pb'd this time in discus with a throw of 29.38m and also threw just over 30m with the 700g javelin.U15G Erin McBriar (coach Martin McBriar) was a little down on her recent star performances in discus and hammer but nevertheless threw well and sister U13G Abi McBriar (coach Martin McBriar) definately had the bragging rights round the dinner table with excellent debut pb performances in discus (19.25m) and javelin (23.85m) which takes her 3rd on the clubs all time javelin list. Jess Marinus (coach Heather Sheffield) had a good day with a seasons best throw of 25.56m with the javelin and threw 21.08m with the discus. U17W Amelia Gordon (coach Martin McBriar) was just under her pb with a throw of 26.33m in the discus and sister Jasmine (coach Martin McBriar) was likewise just under her pb with a throw of 27.54m in the hammer.U15B Harry Jones (coach Heather Sheffield) had a great day with the javelin adding 6m to his pb with a throw of 27.43m. U17W Liv Busher (coached out of club) was her usual consistent self with a best of just over 40m in the javelin and finally U17W heptathlete Grace Colmer (coach Andy Fisher) made an oustanding debut for the club throwing over 30m for the first time with the javelin and going 3rd on the clubs all-time list as a consequence.Elsewhere new club member Ben Findlay (coached out of club) ran 9 mins 13.58 secs for a 3000m pb in Eton and please look out for more WADAC results as track and field continues right through to the end of October in this strangest of seasons.
