WADAC Success at the EA Road Relays
The Road relays are a highlight of the Spring endurance calendar generally with the Southerns at Crystal Palace providing the qualifying event for the Nationals at Sutton Park Birmingham. This year is of course different and EA have organised a virtual Road Relays programme starting with a qualifying round held in early January.
nIn the qualifiers it was open number of entries with the team score being determined by the 4 fastest men plus the 4 fastest women. We had 27 athletes taking the opportunity to test themselves in this 5-mile timetrial event and with 13 men under 30mins and 7 women under 35mins it was a fine demonstration of our developing strength in depth.
nOur scorers were:George King(25'19), Ben Findlay(26'45), Dan Cunnington(27'20), David Mills(27'20)Sarah Shedden(31'46), Jane Gandee(32'32), Emily Kerr(32'56), Emma Carter(34'01) That's a team aggregate of 3h57'59 and an average pace of 5'57 min/mile....good enough for 27th place out of 128 teams and a place in the Nationals - congratulations!
nThe National Relays will be over the weekend of 12th Feb through 15th Feb and again entry is open to all first claim athletes (from qualifying teams)....you too could be a part of it.
